*Tender Greens*
Harry parks his black Audi in the parking lot. My hands begin to sweat, a sign of my anxiety building up. I spot my mom's SUV. I thought I was prepared for this, but I'm not, my anxiety is hitting me like a bus. Harry gets out the car, but rushes to my side to help me out. I asked Harry why he has two different cars, his black range rover and this one, but he dodged the question by asking if he should take his lip ring out.
"Are you sure I should keep it in?" Harry frowns.
"I want her to accept you as you are, not for someone you pretend to be," I tell him.
He smiles down at me and intertwines our hands. He plants a small kiss on my lips before heading into the restaurant. We look around and I spot my mom sitting at a table with her phone in her hands. From here she actually looks a bit happy.
"She's there," I whisper to Harry.
I point slightly towards her direction, trying not to make it obvious. He nods and we walk together to her table, my grip on Harry tightens. He notices, as his thumb begins to rub my knuckles. As we get closer my mom's head shoots up and a bright smile places on her angular face. I've always wanted her cheekbones, but I ended up having a heart shaped head like my dad.
To be truthful, I don't even look like my mom. Her light brown hair, greyish blue eyes, very angular face, big lips and fair skinned are the opposite of me. I guess you can say I've got my dad's genes.
"Hi! I'm so glad you guys came!" She stands up to hug me.
She shakes Harry's hand, still holding a big smile. Harry looks a bit surprised, but grins back.
"It's nice to meet you. I'm very sorry about the misshapen, I was just very overwhelmed," she apologizes.
This must be a dream, my mother apologizing? Seems like a life time since I've heard her apologize before. She usually always stands her ground, even if she's a little wrong.
"I'm Madison by the way," she sits back down.
"That's alright, I understand and I'm Harry," he smiles with a tiny nod.
"Did you already order?" I ask her.
"Yes, you two should too before the line gets longer," she answers.
I give her a fake smile and drag Harry away to the line. This is too creepy for me...She's too nice and I want to know why. She's never that nice towards me! So why all the sudden?
"You're mum is really sweet," Harry speaks.
"Somethings going on, she's never this nice, Harry," I worry.
"Maybe, or she's finally realizing that you're the only kid she an go to," his arm snakes around my waist.
"My mom? Ha, no," I laugh.
"I'm just giving an idea," he shrugs.
"My mom is secretly crazy too. My dad was sometimes driven insane because of her," I shake my head.
"She's that bad?" He raises his eyebrows.
"Definitely," I sigh.
We order our food and have a mini fight over who was going to pay. The cashier was laughing at us as Harry and I tried to snatch each others credit cards, but he had the advantage of being taller than me...he won...We sat back down at the table. My body tenses, but Harry puts his hand on my thigh and rubs his thumb against my jeans. I'm glad Harry came along, I wouldn't have been able to stand her by myself.
"So Harry, what are your plans for your career?" She smiles, but I can hear the seriousness in her tone.
"Well so far I'm going to study A-levels in law, sociology, and business. I want to become a physiotherapist," he responds.
