Jane
I heard my father yelling for me to come down as it was time to leave the house for the fundraiser event. I was always excited about going to these as a child. Getting to dress up and look extravagant, having people take your picture and ask you all types of question about yourself. I just wasn't feeling like putting on the show tonight. The girls would be there, but David wouldn't and that wasn't sounding like fun. He was correct we had to hide, but normally we would sneak off into the bathroom or coat closet and have a little personal time.
I walked out and down the stairs, as I could see my mother and Brit, River mom, huddled close smiling and messing with River hair. It made me sick that my mother was fawning over him in front of her husband. I just gritted my teeth together and walked over to where my father and Gino were smiling at me.
"Jane you look beyond epitome of perfection" my father said kissing me on the forehead as I smiled
"thank you daddy" he nodded and turned back to Gino Rivers father, basically ignoring me
"I think it's time to go or we will be late" my dad said toward my mother as I rolled my eyes and followed him outside where my father's classic black limo sat at the bottom of the stairs. I started walking down the stairs behind my father as driver opened the door.
"Jane, you're going to ride in the sedan with River, you're almost an adult now and don't need to be riding with us" my mother said as she came walking up behind me as she pointed to the luxury sedan behind the limo
"What? Mom this is ridicules, if I go to the fundraiser in the same car, the press is going to think he is my date" I heard my father laugh
"Jane, it doesn't matter what the press thinks, we know the truth and that all that matters, beside you don't have a boyfriend that would be upset about it anyway, so get in the car Jane before you make us late" my father said before getting in the limo followed by my mother
I wanted to scream as I quickly walked over to the sedan, as the driver opened the door and I got in. River was behind me and sat down next to me as I slide as far away from him as possible. This day just kept getting better as the day went on. I knew the girls would understand, but the press was going to have a field day, asking who he was. Not to mention David was going to fill when he saw pictures of us arriving at the event. He knows River is my bodyguard, but I know he is not going to be happy about everyone that is important in our society think River was my boyfriend.
"will you please stop with the grumbling, you're just making this situation worries" River snapped at me as I shot a glare at him, he was leaning his head against the glass with his eyes closed.
"the only reason this situation is bad is because of you, you're not the one that had a reputation in high society standing, where people will look down on me because I'm dating my father's bodyguard son" I snapped at him irritated by this.
"You are nothing but a little self-absorbed brat, in what warped little world do you live in? You're not the only one in that boat princess" he said with almost a sneering tone "do you honestly think that I want people of your society thinking I'm your boyfriend?" he snapped back.
