Only one more hour until Halloween. Until I can finally be able to breath for a while, see the world. Usually on Halloween I have lunch with my mom and dad and then I kinda wonder around, buy new clothes, check some stuff out...

"Violet, where have you been?" a voice I didn't think I would hear anytime soon stopped my thoughts.

"Hey Josh... Um... Weren't you on vacation?" I was surprised. He offered me a hug and I took it not sure of my decision. I didn't even think of Josh being in the new chapter of my life. But he's a great guy I guess.

"Yeah, but they left to Istanbul today and the doctor said the long plane ride and too much exploring wouldn't be good for me... because of the incident." Josh said sitting on the brick wall next to me.

"So what are your plans for today, I mean it's Halloween?" Josh asked schooching closer to me.

"I don't know. Nothing really special, I'm probably just gonna go to the mall or something." his presence didn't make me nervous, in fact it made me feel safe. His voice was really calm, understanding.

"Come to the Halloween party with me tonight!" A smile came across his face.

"I don't know... I'm not really a party girl." I hated parties. So many fake people at one place made me disgusted.

"Come on, it'll be fun. Plus it's just me and you, Maya and Mason won't be there." he literally got on his knees now, begging me.

"Josh...I don't even have a costume!" I laughed at his ridiculous pose.

"Okay let's go buy one. There's a costume shop in the mall near here." He got up, taking the keys out of his pocket.

"Uh fine! Could I just use your bathroom?" I finally gave up. Maybe this will be a good way to start the new chapter in my life.

"Yay! You won't regret it." Josh jumped up and unlocked the door for me to go to the bathroom.

I quickly went to find my mom so she could give me some money. We always hide some in a box for Halloween.

I found her in the basement putting Tyler to sleep.

"Hey mom, I was wondering if you could give me some money... Josh invited me to a Halloween party and I kinda need a costume..." I sat next to her and Tyler.

"Of course! And I'll give some extra money for clothes too." she opened the little box and handed me the money.

"So... what's up with Tate?" she asked me unsure if she would regret it or not.

I saw the worried look on her face so I let it go.

"I think me and Tate are over for good mom." I gave her a half smile.

"I support your decisions Violet. And have fun tonight." She hugged me and I hugged her back.

I kissed Tyler on the cheek and left.

I quickly ran to the kitchen where Josh was waiting for me. Halloween officially started and I was ready.

"You ready?" Josh gave me a wink.

"Yeah, let's go."

...

"Violet! Hahaha... The cops are gonna pull me over!" Josh was laughing and yelling at me for sticking my head out of the window and waving my hands like a maniac.

"I'm a bird! Look at me people!" I got weird looks from people in cars but I didn't care.

I felt free. I felt like I was finally alive again. Josh laughing, feeling the wind in my hair... It just felt right.
