HOSPITAL BREAK ROOM, AFTERNOON
Gabriel sat at a small table, nervously stirring his coffee, still distracted from earlier. Camilla slid into the seat across from him, a mischievous smile playing on her lips.
Camilla - So
she began, leaning in like she was about to share a secret,
Camilla- I seen you've been admiring AJ Brewster from afar again.
Gabriel blinked, caught off guard.
Gabriel- Uh... I guess I have.
Camilla laughed softly.
Camilla - Well, here's a little reality check for you.
Gabriel leaned forward, intrigued.
Gabriel - Yeah? What's that?
Camilla's eyes sparkled as she delivered the line like a pro.
Camilla- She's married. To Dave.
Gabriel froze mid-stir, eyes wide.
Gabriel -Wait, what?
Camilla grinned.
Camilla - Yep. Dave. The guy you saw with Mateo in the cafeteria. AJ's husband.
Gabriel blinked, then rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly.
Gabriel-I... I had no idea.
Camilla - Welcome to the club
Camilla teased.
Camilla - You're not the first to fall for her. But yeah, she's officially off the market.
Gabriel smiled wryly, a mix of disappointment and admiration.
Gabriel -Well... she's incredible. I guess some things are better left as a dream.
Camilla gave him a playful nudge.
Camilla - Don't worry. You're still a great doctor. Focus on that.
Gabriel laughed, the tension easing as he accepted the truth.
