The hospital buzzed with early morning tension, but it wasn't the usual Monday chaos—it was **something else**.
Word had spread fast:
Dr. AJ Sanchez was back.
Camilla leaned against the nurse's station in Neuro, stirring her tea with a knowing smirk as the four interns huddled just out of sight down the hallway.
Ben - I heard she once dismissed an entire surgical board for touching her post-op charts without gloves
Ben whispered.
Lexie -Is it true she operated for 12 hours straight during the blackout last year?
Lexie added, eyes wide.
Jackson, trying to appear cool, muttered,
Jackson - She's just a doctor. A very, very terrifying, brilliant doctor.
Lexie didn't even try to hide her panic.
Lexie -We're going to die.
Camilla snorted loud enough for them to hear.
Camilla - You four are acting like she's the Grim Reaper.
They all turned. Camilla raised an eyebrow.
Camilla She's intense, yeah. But she's also the best neuro head this hospital's ever had. And trust me—you want to learn from her. If you can keep up.
Before they could respond, the elevator doors opened.
AJ Sanchez stepped out in a crisp white coat, her ID badge gleaming under the fluorescent lights. Her hair was pulled back with precision, and her eyes scanned the floor like she never left.
The hallway fell silent.
AJ - Good morning
she said coolly, walking toward her department like she owned it—which, in a way, she did.
The interns stood stiff as statues. She stopped in front of them, folding her arms.
AJ - So
she said, voice sharp but calm.
AJ- They gave me four interns. I assume you all know how to read. If not, you've got 12 hours to learn.
April gulped audibly. Ben dropped his pen.
AJ cracked the faintest hint of a smile.
Camilla, watching from the desk, grinned and called out,
Camilla -Nice to have you back, jefe.
AJ glanced at her, eyes softening for just a beat.
Aj- Good to be back. And I know these newbies are going to stress me out like the last ones
Then, turning back to her interns:
AJ- Let's go. Neuro doesn't wait.
And just like that, Dr. Sanchez was back—unshaken, brilliant, and in full command. Heaven help anyone who couldn't keep up.
Aj - I've got five rules that you have to follow rule 1. don't be afraid to speak up rule 2 - I'm not here to babysit
Rule 3 -if I move you move
Rule 4 - I don't accept bullshit
Rule 5 - when I say don't cut I mean don't cut.
AJs pager went off
AJ - let's move
They started to run because it as a code blue
