Poppy begrudgingly agreed to let us rest longer, but probably only because she knew having both Catnap, and Dogday weak was going to really hinder our mission.
On one hand. It was easier to rest now that Theodore and Terry had made up. But on the other hand....
I couldn't stop staring at them.
Catnap was still burnt all over, with large patches of fur missing. He had bandages covering large wounds and cuts on different areas of his body. Some of his exposed skin was discolored with pale spots from where his joints had unnaturally broken down.
And then there was DogDay. His stump was so swollen I worried about him standing on it. There was nothing to stop the pain now. What was worse?
No one had said it, but i think all of us except Catnap knew. Terry was in no position to have his legs reattached, not now.
He was weak, starved (even with the meat from earlier), dehydrated, he'd lost so much blood earlier, and without actual pain killers... I worried about how much he'd be able to take. It was only a matter of time until the pain fully kicked in.
Not to mention we were running out of supplies.
"We need to get to safe haven." Poppy said after a long period of silence. "Its on the route to Sam, our journey against the prototype, and will help us restock supplies."
I thought her reasons were pretty clear. For once I couldnt say she seemed Bossy, she seemed strategic.
Theodore wasnt convinced. He groaned as he slowly stood up on all fours. "Are you trying to get us killed?"
"I mean...we do need the supplies... and safe haven sounds... nice." I said softly.
Catnap huffed and glared at me. "It isn't safe haven i'm worried about."
Terry gave a small grimace as he flipped to his other side. "If you thought Catnap's army of mini critters was bed.... just wait till you meet the nightmare critters. Those things are like vultures. They'll eat anything- even if its rotting.... but Audrey's done great so far."
"Yeah. I have." I smiled softly and crossed my arms. "Its a level up- but I got this."
"Also not what i'm worried about." He glared at DogDay. "Audrey is human. She's fresh meat."
"Fresh meat that has survived." I added cheerfully.
"The Doctor. I'm talking about Harley. The hour of joy didn't end-" he glanced away. "all.... The experiments. The nightmare critters serve him."
I blinked hard as I stared at Theodore. Oh I remembered Harley alright... or rather. I'd heard of him, heard playtime Co workers mock him. He thought he was above everything. He was uncaring, cruel, and if I had to bet who started the bigger bodies initiative- out of all the employees?
I'd bet on him.
"You created the barbaric hour of joy, and Didn't kill Harley Sawyer?" I exclaimed. "You killed innocent kids but you couldn't kill Harley?!" I waved my hands.
Catnap came closer staring down at my face, as if daring me to question him. He was really tall, his shadow covering me entirely. I tried to keep my gaze straight.
"Wasn't that the prototype's whole mission? To end this?!" I told him.
"The prototype viewed him as a valuable asset." Catnap's words were drained of emotion, almost as if had practiced that line many times.
"Wait-" Terry rose up.
I laughed. "A valuable asset? Is there something i'm missing here?"
Terry came closer to me. "Harley Sawyer created the bbi initiative. He made over a thousand experiments. Killed ...tortured...overcrowded, starved, and isolated. He created a literal prison yard for us!"
