CHAPTER 10
Before Natan went to sleep, there was one thing he was already sure of, and he could no longer deny it. He was attracted to Brian fucking Alcazaren.
There’s nothing wrong with that, Nat. It’s just an attraction. Nothing more, nothing less.
The next day wasn’t eventful at the campus since Natan had a pile of activities to finish. He didn’t get the chance to visit Bella and tease her. Same thing happened for the next few days after that.
Good thing he didn’t see Brian either, because if he did, it would’ve been harder for him to push through with his plan of losing this attraction to that devil.
It was Friday afternoon when the Dean made an announcement during the flag lowering. All of them were lined up by course.
The architecture students were on the side near a tree, so they had shade.
I feel lucky, Natan thought when the sun shone brighter but he didn’t feel the burning heat because of the tree’s shadow. Bradley was in front of him, nudging him.
“What?”
Bradley looked back at him so sharply it seemed like his neck would snap. “I saw Bella!”
Natan’s eyes widened. “Where?”
Bradley pointed to where the engineering students were lined up. They were positioned in front of the architecture students, facing each other. Although the distance was far, Natan could see his future wife because her beauty was screaming.
When their eyes met, he smiled at Bella and winked. She just rolled her eyes.
Natan saw Stephanie tap Bea before whispering something.
He saw Bella roll her eyes again. Then she raised her middle finger at him.
Natan laughed. Fuck. My future wife is wild.
He kept smiling as he looked at her. He felt like he was in heaven because of how light his chest felt. Bella made him feel that way. Which is why he should only be attracted to Bella.
But his smile quickly faded when he saw the person he didn’t want to see.
On the side where Bella was — separated by just one line — was the devil himself, standing in line, brows furrowed and jaw clenched.
Natan whistled and looked to the other side of the field, pretending not to notice him. He didn’t see Brian, didn’t see his face, didn’t see how handsome his features were. He didn’t fucking see how hot he looked while the sun kissed his skin.
He didn’t feel the butterflies inside his stomach.
He didn’t.
After the Dean’s announcement about the upcoming Sports Fest next week, the students rushed to the gate. But Natan stayed where he was.
“Dude, aren’t you leaving yet?” Bradley asked, one hand on his bag strap, the other carrying a plate.
“Later. Too crowded.” Natan said, moving to the side of the tree and leaning on it.
Bradley followed.
“Sigh. Today was exhausting, huh? They made us do so much,” Bradley complained, kicking a stone in front of him.
Natan tilted his head up and closed his eyes. He felt… good. He felt… happy. He felt the tingling in his stomach when he saw Brian’s face after three whole days of not seeing it. Even though they were in the same campus, the school was big enough that they hadn’t crossed paths.
