CHAPTER 13

After Brian left Natan’s apartment, he got on his motorbike with a grin on his face and headed straight home.

When he arrived, he parked the bike and went inside.

"Where have you been?" his sister greeted, wearing only a dress and sweatpants. Her messy hair was tied into a ponytail, and she was holding a glass of wine.

"Heaven," he answered.

Bella frowned. "Seriously, Kuya? You went to heaven?" she asked in disbelief, eyes wide and mouth slightly open.

Brian smiled, remembering what happened earlier. "Yeah."

"OMG! How does it feel? To be in heaven?" she asked, completely serious.

Seriously? Does his sister not know the word metaphorical?

Still, Brian answered, "It feels good. So good, you would want to suck on a lollipop for the rest of your life." He walked straight to his room.

He ignored his sister’s drama, shut his door, stripped off his clothes, and went to the shower.

As the water poured over him, he could not stop thinking about what happened earlier.

Brian came down to the kitchen wearing a white cotton shirt and navy blue tailored shorts. Bella was already there, eating like there was no tomorrow.

"Little shit, eat like a civilized person, please," he scolded as he sat across from her. "You are tarnishing our surname."

"Duh, it is just the two of us here and the housekeepers. No fancy eating, okay?" she replied with a mouth full of rice and beef steak.

Brian took a plate, scooped rice, added beef steak and eggs.

When he saw the eggs, he smirked. Just earlier, he had been holding two eggs. Now he was about to eat them.

"Why the hell are you smiling?!" Bella butted in.

"So?" he said and began eating.

Their housekeeper poured drinks into their glasses before stepping aside.

"Thanks, manang," Brian said.

"Thankies, mommita!" Bella added.

They were both close to the house staff, probably because they spent more time with them than with their parents, who were always away for overseas projects.

Both parents were civil engineers and always in sync, whether in work or traveling. That might be why both Brian and Bella were also taking up civil engineering.

It seemed to run in the family.

"Kuya, you rarely smile while eating."

Brian looked up, frowning at her. She raised an eyebrow, pushed her plate aside, and rested her arms on the table.
