My eyes narrowed and I started conjuring up a plan to escape the house without CC, Jake, or Jinxx finding me. I'd briefly considered just telling them that Andrew had allowed me to leave, but Jake and Jinxx would just know that I was lying. CC would definitely fall for it, but would no doubt run his mouth off to Andy and I'd rather him not hunting me down after knowing that I had disobeyed a direct order.
I crept downstairs and quickly looked around, scanning for any signs of movement. CC was asleep on the sofa; his mouth wide open and drooling like a dog. I cringed inwardly.
After a thorough scope of the room couldn't see Jake or Jinxx and I sighed in relief. I only had to pass CC and that wouldn't be hard.
I took in a deep breath and sprinted towards the door. I reached out for the handle and I could already smell my freedom. I went to turn the handle when-
"Ashley!" Jake yelled, making me leap into the air and almost have a damn heart attack. "Andy wanted me to teach you a few things on bloodlust and self control."
I just nodded, trying to look innocent, while simultaneously trying to calm my erratic heart beat.
"Does it have to be right now?" I asked.
"Not really. Why?"
"I just feel pretty tired and I don't know if I'd be able to take everything in." I gave a fake yawn, which he seemed completely oblivious to.
"Okay then. We'll just have to do it tomorrow." He turned and walked away.
Once he was out of sight i let out a breath I didn't know I was holding and left the house. I wasn't exactly sure where I was but I have a good sense of direction, so I wasn't worried about finding my way around.
After a good hour of walking, I finally reached my destination. I knocked a few times on the door before it flung open, revealing my best friend since high school.
"Ashley! Where the fuck have you been?! I've been worried." She quickly pulled me into a bone-crushing hug.
"I'm sorry, Chloe. I've just been busy-"
"So busy you couldn't even send me a text?" She yelled.
"Well, yeah, I... I've been busy in the house and I've been looking for a job." I lied.
"I went to your house and you weren't there. I then asked the neighbours and they said that they hadn't seen you for days. Do you have any idea how worried I was?!"
"I know, I'm sorry"
She sighed before pulling me into her house by my arm. "Well I need to go grocery shopping and for worrying me so much, your ass is going to help me." She poked me hard in the chest
"I can't. I really can't stay for long."
"No, you're being a good friend and coming with me. I didn't want to go by myself anyway."
I looked at the time and winced. I suppose an hour won't hurt. I waited for her while she grabbed a massive fluffy coat and gloves.
"C'mon, Ash." She pulled me out the house by my arm. She locked the door behind her then grabbed my hand, like she usually does whenever we go anywhere together.
"So, how've you been?" I asked after a while of silence.
"Well, since you've been gone for two weeks I-"
"I was only gone for two days." My eyebrows came together in confusion as I turned to look at her, seriously.
"No, Ashley. I can count. It's been two weeks."
