Tabitha hopped off of the plane and followed the other people that had been on the flight. When they got to the luggage lounge Tabitha looked at the large board for her flight. It had taken seven hours or maybe more to get to Canada. Tabitha must have slept most of the way and the times had messed her up already. It was the middle of the day but it was supposed to be night.

The carousel leisurely went around. Tabitha spotted her bag. She made a grab for it and yanked it off quickly. Her suitcase was extremely heavy so she was thankful for the handle and wheels. She propped it up and began to roll it across the floor to the arrivals lounge.

She strolled out and surveyed the lounge. She couldn’t spot her father but he would probably look different to when she last saw him. A man waved, Tabitha’s eyes snapped over to him. She recognised him, murky coloured hair, stubbly chin and the famous green eyes. She smiled at him as he ran up to her and picked her up. ‘Dad put me down.’ Tabitha said, blushing. Smith put her down and smiled at her.

‘I’ve missed you Tabs.’ Tabitha laughed at him.

‘And I’ve missed that nickname.’ Tabitha joked. Smith picked up the handle for her suitcase and walked out of the airport with Tabitha following him closely.

Tabitha stared out of the window all the way to the house. She stared at the beautiful scenery. Mountains were in view, dashed with snow due to the winter season. Tabitha saw lots of fields and forest land. She guessed her dad lived in the middle of no where. It may have been in the middle of no where but the land that she could see was beautiful.

They pulled up at Smith’s house and Tabitha jumped out of the car. She looked up to the house. It was a little small but it would do. Two storeys high, it was surrounded by forest. Tabitha was happy about that. She could just get lost in it when things got bad.

Smith pulled her suitcase from the boot. He slammed the boot door closed and locked the car. Tabitha followed him into the house. When she entered there was a smell of lavender. Tabitha saw the suitcase was straight in front of the door and to the side was an open hall to the kitchen and living room.

Tabitha walked into the living room and noted how warm it was. The walls were painted beige and the carpets were dark brown. Tabitha turned to Smith. ‘Did you decorate?’ Smith walked in and shook his head. Tabitha turned back to the room. There was a fireplace. She stepped over to it and saw a photo of herself when she was about three. Cute.

‘Let me show you upstairs.’ Tabitha turned to him and followed him down the hallway. They walked upstairs and Smith stopped at the top. He began pointing to the rooms. ‘Bathroom, my bedroom, study and your room.’ Tabitha’s room was right at the top of the stairs and she looked in. It was quite small but enough space for her.

She walked in and sat down on the bed. It was the same colour scheme as downstairs, beige walls and dark brown carpet. She liked it. Her bed sat next to the window with a radiator underneath. Facing her bed was a set or draws and a wardrobe. Next to the wardrobe was the all important desk. Smith rolled her bag in. ‘I’ll give you time to get settled.’

Once Tabitha had put all of her clothes and shoes away in her wardrobe and draws she made her way downstairs. Smith was in the kitchen cleaning. He saw Tabitha and smiled to her. ‘Listen, dad can I go out into the woods and have a little look around?’ Smith nodded to her without looking up.

‘Just be careful.’ Tabitha gave a little giggle and grabbed her shoes. Smith heard the door close and he continued to clean the surface.

Forest was Tabitha’s big escape from the world. She enjoyed the sound of the chirping birds, they sounded cheerful. The way the sun shines through the trees. Tabitha could just stand in the forest for hours and breathe in the fresh air.
