Tabitha woke to the smell of bacon and sausage. She rolled over and moaned. Tabitha stood and heard Charlie whistling in the kitchen. She walked in. Tabitha looked like a child with pyjamas two sizes too big. Charlie smiled at her and left the hob. He wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her neck. 'Morning.' Tabitha smiled back.
'What time is it?' Charlie picked one of his arms up from Tabitha's waist and looked at his watch.
'Seven, we have an hour.' Tabitha looked up to him and nodded. Charlie let go of her and went back to cooking breakfast. Tabitha picked up her phone and switched it on. It started to make millions of noises. She had five missed calls from Smith and Two messages, one from Smith and one from Lily. Tabitha opened the message from Lily.
'HI, YOU COMING TO SCHOOL TODAY?'
She decided not to answer that one. She clicked on Smith's message. As if on cue there was a knock on the door. Tabitha turned her head to it while Charlie went to answer it. She closed her phone and watched the door. Charlie opened it. 'Is Tabitha here?' Shit! Smith walked past Charlie, placing a bag on the floor. 'Tabitha come here.' Tabitha walked towards him, assuming that the bag was hers to move out. 'There is a change of clothes in there. Our plane is at eleven.'
'Plane?' Tabitha was confused.
'We are going to England.' Tabitha creased her brow. She didn't want to go back to England. He hadn't even asked her if she wanted to go.
'What? No! I am not going back there!' She snapped.
'This is not negotiable.' He pulled her clothes out and handed them to her. She took them and looked to Charlie. He was doing nothing to help her. She stormed off to change and returned two minutes later. Smith picked up the bag and walked to the door. He opened it and then turned back around to look at Tabitha. 'I'll be in the car, two minutes.' He then left the house.
Tabitha didn't move. Charlie just stared at her. 'Were you not going to stand up for me?' Tabitha snapped. Charlie did nothing. She then walked over to him. 'Thank you for helping me.' She said sarcastically. Charlie looked down to her. She went to leave but he stopped her.
'He is your dad. He knows what's...' Tabitha stopped him. She didn't want to hear it.
'Just cut it out Charlie.' She gulped. Then the thought hit her that she might never see the again. He was hitting himself mentally. He wanted her to stay. In fact he needed her to stay.
'Tabitha...' Then she pressed her lips to his. He kissed her back gently. Charlie put his hand behind her head and held her close. Tabitha pulled away and walked to the door.
'Goodbye Charlie.' Then Tabitha left the house and closed the door leaving Charlie stood on his own. He kicked the wall and then crouched down, putting his head in his hands.
'Shit.'
Tabitha placed her handbag in the overhead compartment. Then she sat next to Smith. He sighed and got comfy. 'Why do we have to go to England?' She asked he getting comfy herself. It was a long flight after all.
'I'm fed up of you Tabitha. All of your shit is sending me over the edge.' Tabitha stared at him in disbelief. She wondered how such words could come from his mouth. Tabitha wondered how getting suspended for a day for something that was self defence, going to a party and having a boy in her room could push him to take her back to the place she hated.
Not only did Tabitha hate England, she had vowed to herself to never return. The memories would haunt her. She needed to finish school and she would have to return to her old school, Tabitha knew that.
