"Hey, you alright?" I turn around to see Drew, looking a little concerned. "You looked... I don't know... Worried or something when you walked out."
"Uh, no, I'm fine. I just needed a little break from all the violence," I add a giggle at the end so he doesn't feel too guilty about bringing me to see a movie I didn't enjoy. My efforts appear to be useless. "I'm really sorry about this. I didn't even know this was the movie we were seeing. I would've taken you to do something else if I had known." I just stand there, staring at him and his gorgeous face, mesmerized by that soothing voice of his. I finally reply, "Oh, no. Don't feel bad. I really was enjoying it until everyone started shooting each other in the face." We both laugh and suddenly, we see the rest of them coming towards us. "Couldn't handle it, huh?" Ryan teases as they all get close enough. I hide my rosy red cheeks, looking down at my feet.
Suddenly, "Holy crap, Drew! Mikey! Look!" Ryan almost shouts as he points to a game store across from where we are standing. He almost jumps up and down with excitement. Mikey sees what has caught Ryan's attention and pretty soon, his expression is identical to Ryan's. "Come on, Drew! The new 'Gears Of War' is out!"
"No way!," Drew exclaims. They continue shouting at each other excitedly as they run over to the game store. I turn to Kate, who is staring at me with an unreadable expression. I smiled sweetly, hoping to ease the tension. Instead, she forces a smile, quite obviously. So, here I am, stuck in an awkward silence with this girl who for some unknown reason, despises me. Great.
