The sound of hurried footsteps and battered breathing was loud, the monster gasping for air as they ran through the alley way, accidentally colliding with a wall before pushing off it. They dared not look back as they continued forward, their legs numb to feeling with waves of pain shooting up with every step they took down the alley, one of their shoes lost. Their tail hid between their legs as they turned each corner, ears swiveling every which way to listen for the beast that was chasing after them.

Their blood seeped from fresh wounds and to the ground, unknowingly leaving a trail that wasn't being followed. Tears swelled from their eyes as they let out a pitiful sob, finally seeing a break between buildings and towards a forest, snow and concrete meeting with a crude line, relief filling their body. Despite the pain they were enduring, despite the blood and tears they were leaking, they could finally see the end of what was happening, finding some kind of hope within themselves.

They pushed farther towards the tree line, their breath hitching as the area flickered from black and white to its normal state. The beast that was chasing after them tried to engage in a fight with every step it took, slowly growing closer despite moving slower, making the monster wonder just who was chasing them. The hope that once filed them started to drain as they continued forward, bile resting on their tongue as they pushed forward, picking up their speed as the flickering continued, faster and louder.

Reaching a hand forward, they let out a gasp upon feeling snow fall onto the back of their hand, tree bark kissing their finger tips. The cold of Snowdin was usually unwelcoming, but knowing who lived in the town, and what they did to people like the beast chasing them, brought hope to them. They were right there, so close, they could see the condensation leaving their mouth, so why couldn't they keep moving forward, why did they feel... stuck?

Blinking and letting out a scared gasp, the monster attempted to move once more, looking down at the blue strings that bound them in place. They linked between the trees, holding onto branches and digging into the roots that were buried in the snow, shaking with each pull. Despite the fact that the monster knew these strings were weak, that they could break through them easily, it was the pure fact that they were just so many wrapped around them that rendered their body useless. Was this really how it ended?

A pitiful cry left their throat as they started to scream, begging for some kind of solace as they fought against the strings, digging into their fur and drawing blood. The presence of the beast was drawing near, they could feel its gaze on their back, see the way the area slowly grew darker as it engaged in a battle. However, it wasn't the battle mode that scared the monster, but rather the fact that they had no option but to lose and give up, there was no way they were going to escape.

Struggling once more against the restraints, the monster sucked in another breath to scream, only pausing when they heard the sound of metal scraping against metal. There was quiet for a moment, the monster slowly turning their eyes downward before letting out one more cry, seeing two blades opened wide around their abdomen. The blades of thinner scissors were hovering over their fur and the clothes on their back, stained with dust and blood that looked akin to rust, but the monster knew better than to assume that. When you first showed your blade, it was clean, well taken care of.
