When you finally stirred from your spot on the anti-voids floor, you were quick to recognize the scent of pie lingering in the air, your stomach screaming in an instant. However, you were slow to turn over, blinking slowly as you saw the slice of pie that sat on a plate, a fork right next to it along with a beverage you couldn't see clearly. It took you a moment to process that Dream had upheld his end of the deal, but you were wondering just how long that pie had been sitting there.
Sitting upwards, you leaned your back against the blades of your scissors, reaching down for the plate and flinching a little, dragging your fingers up to your lip. You placed the parts you had burn on the tip of your tongue, squinting as you glared down at the food that had burned you, guess this pie was as fresh as you could get it. Now aware of the temperature of the food, you untied the scarf around your waist and used it as a means to place the plate on your lap, huffing as you prodded at the soft food.
It's not that you've never had pie before, you've had a few cold and rotted slices here and there, but you've never had it fresh. In fact, most of the food you had ever had the courtesy of consuming was never right out of the oven, and was more or less peoples left overs, or whatever Error managed to save for you. Whenever you would go digging through other Universes, sometimes you'd get lucky and snag a loaf of bread from a bakery before murdering the owners, but that was a rare chance. Error only let you roam around whenever your LvL was spiking and he was at risk to being attacked by you, and during those moments, all the pain inside of you seemingly disappeared.
Sighing and finally sinking the forks ends into the pie, you watched as the crust easily broke and the soft surface landed on top of it. Error was right in the sense that you never thought about the future, as you always were so in your own head whenever you were allowed to roam free, but could he blame you? Day in and day out, you are constantly surrounded by nothing, and with how he was force feeding you the bloodshed of others, there was the occasional loss of yourself within the void, screaming and hitting whatever you could. On day's like those, ones where Error didn't want you to roam free but didn't want to risk his own life, he would toss you to the void, leaving you to take your frustrations out on the strings that hanged across the ceiling.
You raised your fork and gave the pie a subtle sniff, furrowing your brows slightly and pulling back at the odd smell it radiated. It smelt of butterscotch and cinnamon, briefly remembering about Error mentioning the pie flavor whenever he found joy in himself while destroying a few AU's. He would taunt you with the idea of the sweet, but state that you hadn't been behaving lately, so he never indulged in your questions about how the sweet tasted, simply saying it was similar to eating a slice of caramel. But he never allowed you to eat that, either.
Swallowing a lump in your throat, you ignored the way your mouth watered as you quickly took a bite of the treat, wincing a little as the filing burnt your tongue. However, you chose to ignore the small sting in exchange for the new burst of flavor that had bloomed on your taste buds, the feeling so overwhelming you couldn't help but gasp a little. You chewed the piece of pie very slowly, blinking with each new flavor article that came with each crunch of the crust, with each swirl of the filling and dot of whip cream you had managed to snag on the piece.
A moment of clarity sparked through you after you swallowed the pie, shaking your head in confusion as you placed the fork down onto the plate. Reaching upwards, you quickly discarded the tears that lingered on your waterline, sparing them an odd look before flicking them away, scoffing at the sight. The warmth the pie had not only made your stomach stop crying, but it also budded a new emotion into you, one that you were unfamiliar with but not entirely uneducated on. Taking another experimental bite of the pie, you nodded to yourself as you closed your eyes briefly, allowing the warmth to over take you once more, appreciating the moment you were undergoing.
