My name is Paris. I'm a brunette with grey blue eyes and tan skin. I'm a sophmore in high school and live in Florida with my mom Jasmine. My dad died when I was a baby so I never knew him. Mom never talks about him either. My older brother who was supposed to go to Colleage but never did lives with us too. We live in an apartment that's down the street from the beach.
So the day mom went missing I was in my room watching tv when my cell rang. It was Seth my older brother.
"What do you want?" I asked. "And where are you by the way? You were supposed to be home an hour ago"
"I was picking mom up at her work" Seth explained. "And she's not there. Her boss said she never even came to work today"
I sat up and shut off the tv.
"What do you mean? Of course mom went to work! What did she just leave home this morning and go someplace else?"
"I don't know" Seth said. Usually Seth was lazy and didn't care about anyone. And to hear him so concerned made me worried.
"Well then call-" I stopped midsentence. We had no one to call. We were all alone.
"I'll be home soon" Seth said. "If mom doesn't come back by tommarow then we'll call the police"
"Okay" I said hanging up. Everything would be fine, everything would be okay. But would it really?
I decided to distract myself and instead went downstairs. I walked into the kitchen to find mail on the table. I picked it up and skimmed through it. One letter was for my mom.
I opened it and started to read it.
Dear Jasmine,
I will still kill you. It doesn't matter if you have two children now. One in high school and the other supposed to be in Colleage. How do I know this? Who am I? Drew Riverstone. Shay's ex. Don't you remember when Shay tried to kill you? Don't you remember the court case at the palace? None of that matters now. Shay has asked me to kill you and I will not displease her. I'm sorry.
I dropped the letter. Shay? Who the hell was Shay and why had she tried to kill my mom? The door opened and I screamed. It was just Seth.
"What's wrong?" He asked.
"Read this" I said handing him the letter. "It has to do with mom"
After reading it he looked over the letter and evelope as if some crime investigator.
"It looks as if she's already opened it" Seth said.
"So do you think she ran away?" I asked.
"Maybe" He said. "Anyways it's late. You should probably get some sleep"
"Sleep? How can I sleep with mom missing?"
"There's school tommarow"
"I'm not going to school" I said.
"Yes you are" he said. "And I'm going to have to register at your guardian now that we know mom isn't going to be coming back"
"My what?"
That next day I woke up early but tired. My alarm was loud and annoying the hell out of me. I slammed it off and got up to get dressed. Another day at Cape Coral high.
I didn't eat breakfast that day. Instead I told Seth who was acting all responsible all of a sudden that I was leaving and left him to stay home. He was going to have the police over to file a report and all of this missing person stuff.
When I arrived at school my friends somehow had already known my mom was missing. They gave me reassuring hugs and the bell rang for class. When I walked into Language Arts I noticed a new guy in the class. He had dark brown hair and the same greyish eyes as me but without blue. He was wearing a white hoodie with dark jeans and white vans. He caught me looking at him and I looked away emmidiatly.
"Okay class" The teacher said walking in. My teachers name was Ms.Allison and she had blonde hair and always wore skirts and blouses.
"We have a new student in the class. His name is Javier and were also going to be starting a project on poetry. You and your partner will be writing a poem together with an assigned topic. You do not get to chose your partners"
The glass groaned.
Ms.Allison started to assign partners.
"Paris Grey" She said. "You are working with our new student Javier...Riverstone"
