That day when Shion was treated his wounds, he went home early. As he reached his house with the help of the nice teacher he meet in the corridors, he went straight to his bedroom and lay in bed all day. He couldn't help it, but think about Nezumi; the boy who was there when nobody else was.

He kept rethinking the moment when that boy, suddenly out of nowhere, appeared to rescue him. Such thing never happened before to Shion. He always had to endure the pain after getting beaten up every time he didn't bring the money. Nobody before Nezumi gave any care in the world for the bullying that occurred to him. Not even one person, even though most people knew about it. Except for Safu.

Shion could never bring himself to tell her about such happenings since she would worry to much, and in the worst cases, get beaten up too. He didn't want to cause anyone trouble. But he can't say that he wasn't happy that Nezumi stepped in and saved him just a couple hours ago. He can still repeatedly see Nezumi's smiles and chuckles while he was helping him to get to the infirmary. Shion even then couldn't help himself and stare in awe at the other boy.

But why did he exactly save him? Why did he go through the trouble of beating those boys up? Why didn't he just ignore it like others did?

Thump

Shion suddenly felt a warm feeling inside his chest. His heart began to pound.

Thump thump

Before falling asleep Shion said one thing to himself. I need to meet him again...

                         * * *
As the newly rising sun shone brightly into his room, indicating another morning, Shion woke up with a start. Over and over again, the same nightmare would haunt Shion each night. It always started out the same; a five year old Shion was sitting on a patch of grass, playing with flowers, acorns, anything he could lay his hands on. A giant happy smile was always displayed on his cute, chubby face, and as he played, his parents and younger sister were always somewhere around him. Yet, in a blink of an eye, this warm setting would change. Men with machinery unknown to a child would burst in, and kill on sight. Flames and explosions would destroy anything and anyone, as this small child would, in terror, attempt to run to its mother. A mother whose eyes were dead, and skin was pale.

This dream would also always end in the same way each time it occurred; Shion was pulled away from his parents, by an older person, who forcefully shut his cries for his mother away with her palm. With him in her arms, he would see the terrible image of his family, the last thing he had left, laying on top of each other dead, as if they were just fuel for the roaring fire that spread around the whole area.

What could possibly this nightmare mean? And why did it occur more often then it did before? Could this dream actually foreshadow the future? Shion couldn't understand it himself.

Suddenly, a call from Safu interrupted his thoughts. He answered it and was bombarded with her worrying screaming, "Oh my god Shion, you okay? What did those bastards do to you? Anything broken? Are you coming to school today? I called only now since I wanted to give you some time to rest". Shion sat up in his bed and in a just-woke-up tone said, "Sorry to worry you Safu, but yes I am all right. Nothing's wrong with me I just have a few bruises but, really, I am fine so I will come to school- Wait it's already today? I didn't do my homework... Crap..."

At the end of the line, he heard Safu reassuringly laugh, "Yes its past 08:00, you dumbo. And don't worry about the homework. I bet the teachers will understand your circumstances. Anyway, if you are fine then lets meet up at the station and walk together to school, okay? You have to tell everything that happened! Bye Shion," And she hung up without even giving him time to say goodbye.
