The new year turned over. A new start. A beautiful, bountiful wellspring of opportunity. And to greet it, from all the way across the great and vast sea, came an armada hoisting the colors of the Ishgar Magic Council—save one. An unmarked ship, housing naught but wizards on it.

Rune Knights and sorcerers and commanders and all sorts were at the vanguard. The remaining Wizard Saints were at the rearguard, waiting for the way to be cleared so they could volley their assault.

Poor Caracole Island, a vacation hotspot on the outskirts of Alikitasia, had long been evacuated per Invel's command. It was the first natural destination for the armies of Ishgar to clear, a landmark on the way to Vistarion further up in the mainland. A port city was not far from Caracole Island, its own navy resting there.

Yet, indeed, no other ships waited for the armada. None were there to meet them.

But one human resided on Caracole Island, alone atop a tower of sand that stretched into the heavens as created by the Desert King himself.

Atop it, where he could command the skies and peer into the stars, was he who would greet the armies of Ishgar, and at the same time, prove to them their worth:

Nothing.

For above, standing in a pose designed to strike one's awe, to dazzle, to capture the hearts, minds, and souls of any who dare stand in his way, was the one true God of Ishgar.

Serena, his draconic power waiting to be unleashed, gazed upon the armies he once could call his allies.

If only they weren't so pathetic.

They set up wards, prepared magic circles. Could they see him? He truly hoped so. Could they recognize him?

Well.

They certainly would in a moment.

If they proved ignorant or foolish enough to ignore his display and attempt to undermine his first great performance for the Alvarez Empire, then at least the wonderful Emperor had provided God Serena with a bit of support: Wall lingered below, on the ground, weapons hidden and aimed at the fleet. Some of his little automatons and robots were down there, too, expendable forces that could be used as bombs upon the ships if they wanted to get closer.

They continued their slow advance across the ocean. Serena flung his arms into the air.

It was time, at last!

First, he summoned all eight of his Dragon Slayer magics into his hand, then let them all loose in an instant. An array of fireworks exploded in the sky above, sending rippling power across the armada, no doubt catching their attention. No magic rained down on them—yet—but with their attention already on the sky, Serena doubled down and sent a massive torrent of Gale Dragon Slayer magic to split the clouds. He closed his hand, and with his Spark Dragon Slayer magic, the sky came alight with lightning.

Chains connected and dotted all around one another until a bolt blasted through one of the ships. Serena yelped with glee as the rest of the chain followed. Serena twirled and changed his magic, going from Spark to Purgatory Dragon Slayer Magic. Veils of flame swirled around him in a sheet that tightened and tightened until it burst out and engulfed the first few ships of the vanguard, catching them completely aflame. Serena swooped his arms down as his opening salvo sank five of their ships at once.

Onto Act 2.

He stood to attention. Their wards were breaking, and their wizards struggled to come up with a counter for the man atop the tower so tall. A few ships were being towed out to begin a land invasion to get him. Serena placed a hand to his face, covering it in shame for their folly. He held a crooked left hand, one signifying their foolish and broken minds, then contorted it more.
