Chapter 124 - The Light that Breaks the Storm

Their airship sliced through two of Dimaria's, leaving all three in major disrepair and ruin. Freed extended his hand, and a runic platform appeared before the four of them. The Thunder Tribe stepped onto it, together, as it glided toward Dimaria.

She'd given them her full attention. Her ship was the only one that remained unharmed. Laxus unfolded his arms. Lightning crackled around him. Every muscle in his body was tense. His heart rate quickened.

Dimaria tapped her lone sword on the deck of the ship, then jabbed it in Hisui's direction.

"Saved that one just in time, big guy," Dimaria said.

"Hisui," Laxus said. "Take Gramps and Mest and get outta here. We'll finish things from here."

"I bet you will," Dimaria said. "Man, you've been such a blight on my record. Spotless since we got here, and then you all escaped. All I have to show for it is your dumbass father."

Hisui sprinted by to retrieve the others. Gramps was hurt—badly. Laxus spared him a single glance, where Makarov, weakly, balled a fist, and nodded at Laxus.

Thunder boomed overhead. The Thunder Tribe fanned out behind Laxus.

"Gonna let your friends get in on the fun?" Dimaria asked.

"My mistake last time was thinking I could fight you alone," Laxus said. "That won't be the case this time. We're ready for you."

"Thinking you're ready and actually being able to live up to it are two totally different things, tough guy," Dimaria said. "I know what to expect this time."

"Only from one of us," Evergreen said.

"I don't even know who the rest of you three are," Dimaria said. "You don't matter."

"We're the most powerful team of wizards in Fairy Tail," Freed said. "Led by their strongest wizard."

"Oh? You're the strongest? I thought it was that Titania chick, or Natsu."

"Nah, baby, Laxus is the main man," Bickslow said. His dolls flew in around him in a tight formation. Freed drew his sword while Evergreen whipped out her fan, letting small speckles of dust flutter about.

Dimaria examined them all.

"Alright, I'm starting to get the picture," Dimaria said. "Some dollry, rune magic, and, what, some sort of energy-based magic? Obviously, you've got lightning. Alright. Nothing special."

"Indeed," Evergreen said, and the light of her eyes flared.

Dimaria sensed the attack, and her aura flashed around her, shattering the magic that should've turned her to stone. Evergreen scowled.

"Didn't think it'd work, but had to give my Stone Eyes a chance," she muttered.

"This one relies on brute force," Laxus said. "And it's consequently brute force that's what we need to bring her down."

"An amount none of you have, trust me," Dimaria said. She raised her sword. "Come on, let's get this over with."

"Not gonna stop time?" Laxus asked.

"Not worth it yet," Dimaria said. She aimed her sword at Freed. "Not until I can remove that one from the playing field."

Just like they'd thought. Laxus let lightning consume his fists.

"Alright, just like we talked about," Laxus said. "On me, guys, let's go!"

He disappeared and reappeared in a bolt of lightning, one that Dimaria was able to follow and prepare for as her strength went through the roof to prepare for Laxus's attack.
