There were fewer members of the rebellion than Sting would've thought for the level of carnage that'd torn apart Hargeon. Not to mention that they had to hold out against Neinhart and all the Historias he was capable of summoning, like God Serena or any of the other fallen Divisions of the Empire. Granted, all of the Fairies were wiped out by the end.
Typical of Bloodman, Sting thought, to wait until his opponent was too weak to stand up for themselves and then strike. Gajeel, especially, with the heights he hit against the Historia of God Serena, would've shredded Bloodman to pieces.
"Lector, why don't you go check on the others? I'll holler if we need any help," Sting said.
"You got it, boss," Lector said with a nod as he crossed his arms. "That Bloodman guy gives me the creeps anyway."
"Frosch would like to check on Panther Lily, too," Frosch said next to Rogue.
"That's a wonderful idea, Frosch, thank you," Rogue said.
"Good luck, Rogue!"
"Thank you."
The Exceeds padded off toward Lily, who'd shrunk to his typical size. Everyone gawked at the new arrivals. Much as Sting wanted to explain himself, the Etherious before them was sort of commanding all of the attention in the area.
The dark anti-ethernano drifted out of Bloodman's body. Sting didn't know much about the guy's personality, only the threat he posed as a member of the Tartaros Division. He was an Underworld Etherious, one of the three most dangerous that Zeref ever created.
He was not the most unique. Bloodman was created in the event that every other Etherious fell off or was incapacitated, and their roles were needed for a particular task. Bloodman was the sum of all Etherious before him, though Zeref had recently removed the abilities from Mard Geer from his repertoire, to ensure that Mard Geer retained his own abilities and Bloodman did not run mad with power.
He was always separate from the rest of the division, as his presence was a redundancy. He was mostly used to keep the western reaches of the Empire in check, though with Tartaros having fallen, his role was extended to all sides of the Empire. Hence his late arrival in the battle.
Hence why Sting and Rogue had been following him.
"Perhaps a surprise arrival but a surprise betrayal, knowing how frail you two have always been," Bloodman said. "I will be more than happy to dispose of you as well as the rest of the Fairies while we tear down this begotten dream of Hisui's."
"Remember the plan," Rogue said.
"Hard to forget, we've been practicing it so much," Sting said.
Bloodman raised his hands. "First Seal: Release!"
Bloodman's body dissipated into the purple mist of Bane particles, but he did not yet move. He was waiting for Sting and Rogue to make the first attack. Sting cracked his neck and surged power where his right arm should be, creating a dragon's wing and talon made of holy white light. Rogue remained where he was.
"We'll talk when we're done," Sting said to the Fairies around him. "Just hang tight, alright? This won't take too long."
"You'll be absorbed by the power of hell in no time!" Bloodman roared as Sting unleashed his magic.
In a flash, he zipped across the battlefield, his holy wing extending even farther out as he captured Bloodman's attention.
"White Dragon Iron Fist!"
With his human arm, Sting swung down and punched through Bloodman's form, which injured him despite it being made of mere mist. Bloodman skirted back and attacked. Sting blocked with his white wing, stunning Bloodman.
