Lykaos
"Wake up!" I heard Winter yell at me, "Lykaos, come quickly!" I groaned and opened my eyes groggily, "What's wrong?" I asked as I slowly got up from bed. I looked over to where Winter was, she was standing in front of the mirror frantically touching her neck.
"I think I'm dying." I just barley heard her whisper to herself before yelling out to me again, "Lykaos! Come here." My ear ringed from the yell making me wince in pain. I stalked over to her finally getting a look at what she was fussing about.
Her neck was bruised and swollen. I could barely make out a bite mark, but when I looked closer there it was. Several punctured wounds circled on her neck. "What did this to you?" I questioned her, bringing my hand to the mark, "It was that man! He did this to me." She sneered, as her eyes dimmed down to a darker shade of grey.
I noticed something slightly sticking out of one hole, I gripped it within my fingertips and pulled on it, Winter face scrunched up in pain as I pulled it out. I gently put it on my palm and examined it, it was short white piece of hair. "Winter, look what I pulled out of it." I said and pushed it close to her face, she stumbled back from it before looking down.
"What?" She asked bewildered, she quickly went back to the mirror and looked at the mark again. More short white hairs sprouted up from the last time we looked, "What is happening?"
I stepped back and shook my head, "I have no clue, maybe it's just healing it?" I suggested. She narrowed her eyes at me, "You idiot, nothing like this ever happens when you're healing." I just shrugged and wondered to the front door, "Well, maybe we should go investigate."
She turned around to face me, "And what find the man that bit me? I think not, we're lucky we didn't die before."
"Well obviously he didn't kill us for a reason, maybe he's a vampire and you're becoming one!" I gasped before positioning my fingers in a cross, "Stay back Winter! I don't want to hurt you." I stated jokingly.
She growled looking offended, "Don't ever fucking call me that again!" Her breathing became ragged as she started to shake. I put my hands up hesitantly, "Okay, I'm sorry. I won't ever call you that again." She continued to breath heavily, as she crouched down still looking at me. Waiting.
Shit. It took me a few seconds before figuring out she was about to attack me. I didn't waste another second before I was out the front door and running through the woods. I could hear her running after me, quick and thundering closer to me.
Everything seemed to slow down as we were both running in and out of trees. My senses seemed more alive than ever, I could hear a herd of deer picking at their food, I could hear small mammals racing away from us. I could feel their fear because of us. Hunger rumbled in the pit of my stomach from it, I wanted to taste the meat of a rabbit the flew past me. To chase it till I caught him, and I did.
Something took over me as I changed my path and followed that rabbit, Winter must have noticed the new prize and joined me. The rabbit ran fast, he quickly turned left as Winter followed after him. I ran right, a little further away from the rabbit and Winter and got up ahead of him. I could feel his heart beating against his rib cage, the fear of knowing he was about done for was thick in the air. The scent of victory coming from Winter and the hunger in her now bright silver eyes shone lively.
All of a sudden I came back to myself, I knew this wasn't right for us to be doing this. We were not animal, we were still humans. I wouldn't give in that easily.
