Winter
It's dark, the feeling of secureness floats in the air. I reach my hands forward, I can't see but I could feel a cool breath lingering on them. I step a little closer and grasp onto the warmth of soft fur. A familiar connection sparks through me tugging inside me. I continue to hold onto the fur as it slowly starts to move, I follow unconsciously.
I hear soft clicks of claws against the ground, I could feel a large tail sway against my legs. Heavy breathing echoes within the clicks, I was still following this creature for it seemed at least hours we've been walking. I began to feel tired and slow down only to have sharp teeth softly go around my hand pulling me to continue on.
The air seemed thick but reminded me of the forest even though I couldn't see, it felt just like in the forest. The ground started to become soft like standing on thick moss. Yellow lights slowly appeared everywhere becoming in twos like eyes, dimmed shadows of trees hiding them but their eyes. They stayed still and watched me as I continued to walk on, I looked down to see my leader.
A large black wolf, her head meeting just below my breast bone. Her body gracefully swayed back and forth. She turned her head around to me, her bright grey eyes shining through the dark staring right into my own eyes. Her features in her faced seemed almost familiar to mine. She turned back around and continued leading me away.
I could still feel the gaze of eyes on me, hearing soft thuds in the distance stopping every time I did. I didn't know what was happening, the further we moved into the forest the more I felt different. An uncomfortable weight around my neck, my hands and feet felt clammy and my arms and legs started to feel stiff.
I flicked my tongue over my teeth when they started to ache and they felt unfamiliarly sharper. I looked around once again, looking at the forest that started to grow brighter with each step. I could start to faintly see the followers trying to hide behind the trees. They slowly started to form into the shape of wolves, about a dozen of them were following me seeming like a whole pack.
I wondered why they were following. The big black wolf kept walking on, her head held high throughout the entire time. But this time she stopped, standing still she looked forward into a dark cave with vines hanging down from it.
She quickly turned around, excitement rolling off her as she pushed me forward to the cave. It didn't feel right so I tried turning back around but she wouldn't budge and slowly growled at me. I gave up after a while and hesitantly walked into the cave, I pushed the vines out of my way and looked in. It was pitch black, I was scared to walk in but when I looked back to the wolf, she was gone and the whole forest started to grow dark so I walked in.
Soft lullabies echoes quietly through the cave, the voice was smooth and comforting. A faint scent floated in the air. Becoming stronger and stronger the more deeper I wondered in the cave. The scent was only what I could describe was like moon dust sprinkled with the stars. Well, I wouldn't know what they smelt like but I'm sure that this is what it would be.
A bright glowing light appeared out of nowhere, I covered my eyes from it until it slowly dimmed down. When I put my hands down and looked up I saw a beautiful woman standing there. A gracious smile appeared on her face, her hair was as bright as snow and came down to her waist, her eyes glowed like the moon itself but only with a little tint of blue and wore a long bright blue dress.
She was beautiful, I felt like a shadow compared to her. Her smile somehow widened as she beckoned me over. I slowly walked towards her, feeling intimidated by the power radiating off of her. Once I was face to face with her she reached a hand out to my hair and stroked through it. I don't know what possessed me but it felt amazing as I leaned more closer to her not wanting it to stop. A gently laughter awoke me from the trance as I backed away and blushed brightly, "I'm sorry." I told her and bent my head down.
She lifted my head up to meet her eyes, amusement dancing in them, "There's no need to be sorry, little one. It is okay." She assured me, I nodded my head weakly at her and looked around.
She hummed softly as I looked around the cave from what I could see. Water dropped from the roof of it, shining as they fall down. Bats slept quietly around every corners, slightly moving every so often. Small spiders race past and into the holes on the walls, this cave seemed so full of life and so magically that I almost forgot that I wasn't alone.
Suddenly remembering her, I look to her to see her hand up and palm facing skywards, "Good luck my wolf child." She said brightly, once again that smile graced her face. She leaned down and blew dust in my face making me cough violently, "What was that?" I tried to ask when I stopped coughing as much.
When I looked up, she wasn't there anymore and I wasn't in the cave as well. I was outside in the forest, but I wasn't alone. I could feel eyes burning in my back. I turned around and saw a pack of wolves of all different colours, gazing intensely at me. When they looked at me I could have sworn their eyes brighten up.
A quite large grey wolf with bright hazel eyes stepped forward towards me then lifted their head up and gave a long low howl. One after another all wolves started to join in, it felt like they were greeting an old friend that's finally came home.
I could only watch in awe as their hypnotizing howls echoed through the forest and made shivers crawl up my spine. I then noticed that I felt my own throat open up and threw my head towards the sky and let a loud deep howl along with the pack. Hearing my own howl some pack wolves let out high pitch howls of happiness, I couldn't stop myself from breathing in and letting out another howl.
I stopped once I felt a presence beside me, I turned my head to look next to me. The same black wolf from before was sitting there staring at me also. I lifted my hand towards her but at the same time she lifted her leg and paw up. The movement was unexpected as I stumbled back from her, she followed my actions in sync with me. My eyes widened as did hers, "What-" her mouth opened as she let out a whine when I tried to speak.
Something kept tugging me from the inside to get closer to her, I obeyed and crept closer to the wolf as she did the same. One more strong push towards her and I fell in.
Suddenly it become clear, this wolf and I, we were the same, she was I and I was her. While I fell in the wolf, I became her.
We threw our head up again towards the sky and let another long howl out as the pack joined us. This was home.
My eyes opened in a knew form, I stood up on all fours with newfound strength and power. The pack wolves looked shocked as they watched me, the Alpha wolf did as well. He stumbled back a couple steps away from me, showing weakness.
Weakness like prey show, a razor tooth grin spread across my new face as I stalked around the alpha and went to Lykaos. Sniffing her, I could smell her flesh starting to rot where she had been shot. Sudden movement caught my attention from the corner of my eye, I looked up quickly and growled aggressively towards the pack wolves.
They stood still almost like they were paralyzed, the Alpha narrowed his eyes at me and growled softly back at me. I gave a sharp bark and turned back to Lykaos, gripping her shirt I lifted her up then quickly pushed my snout underneath her and pushed her body on my back, she mumbled something under her breath unconsciously and wrapped her arms limply around my neck.
I then started my travel in search of another place to help my friend, but before that I turned around to look back at the wolves. They all gazed at me, I could smell anger rolling of the Alpha. I lifted my head up and gave a short howl to them, they returned it quite hesitantly as I walked further into the forest once more.
