Three hours later, I'm pumping gas at the closest gas station from Denny's when I hear my phone ringing in the truck. After throwing everything out of my purse to find it, I look at the phone and see it's none other than Luke calling me for the billionth time today. I forward the call, and slide it back into my purse. It rings again. Gosh, you'd think he'd get the point. Maybe I just need some time alone for once. I pick it back up and answer this time "Maci, are you there? Where are you? I'll meet you. Is everything okay? I've been calling for hours." He is just so hung up on himself. "I'm fine. I went to eat and then did a little shopping. I needed a couple things from the store," I scoff at him before climbing back in the truck and starting the engine. "Look, just please come back, okay? I know you're upset about Aria calling but I promise it wasn't what you probably thought. She knew you were here and wanted to see how you have been holding up. I really don't like the idea of you being out by yourself right now. Come back, please?" At this point he's practically begging. The door to the station opens up and out walks a tall, strung out looking dude. He looks at me and winks, almost causing me to throw up every bite of eggs and bacon I had to force down this morning at breakfast. I pull the phone away from my face and check the battery. It's only on twelve percent and I'd rather not be stuck in a new town without a phone or a way to get out of an emergency. I nod my head as if he can see from the other end. "Maci? Are you still there babe?" Remembering we're still on the phone, I put the truck into drive and pull out of the parking lot, taking a left at the red light. "Yes, I'm on my way home. Be there in thirty," I finally answer. I'm on my way home. As if it really is that easy.
