Later that afternoon, I wake up to an empty bed. Of course, I'm only guessing that it is afternoon because the sun is slowly sinking down on the horizon. "Glad you're finally awake. You completely passed out of me after the festivities," I hear Luke's voice from across the room. I sit up and look over to the corner where he's sitting at his desk, laptop open and pen and paper next to him. The faint sound of music fills my ear once I fully come to. I chuckle once I recognize the song playing. Luke gets up out of his seat and walks to the bed, sitting next to me and looks at me seriously. "I don't get it, what are you laughing about? What's so funny?" "Seriously," I ask. "Since when do you listen to country music?" Luke grins at me and grabs my hand, squeezing it tightly. "Since you got here, pretty much." The song changes to a more upbeat tune and I hear Luke Bryan's voice boom over the surround sound speakers. "So, some of my old college buddies are having a little get together tonight. It isn't going to be much and I doubt there will be many people there, but I was wondering if you wanted to go. I mean, not as a couple or anything or even a date. Just as friends," Luke asks nervously. I run through what could happen in my head. Should I go? It has been a while since I've really gotten to go hang out with people and a party does sound nice. Plus there won't be many people there so I don't have to worry about going into a full blown panic attack. "Yeah, I guess I could use a night out but there so better be someone there with weed. I could really use a joint right now," I finally answer. Luke chuckle and shakes his head. "Oh, Maci. You haven't changed one bit. Go ahead and get ready. I told Clint and Adam we'd be there around six. That gives you," he looks at his watch and then back to me, "about an hour and a half to get ready. Sound good?" As if only an hour and a half is enough time for any girl to get ready. Doesn't he understand that beauty takes time? Instead of stating my honest opinion, I nod and get up from the bed.
After taking a quick shower, I start looking through my bag. Seriously, of all the clothes that I have, how could I have not packed something to go to a party in? I suddenly remember my shopping spree from earlier today and run out to my truck. Looking through all the clothes I bought, I find a pair of black straight leg skinny jeans. When I saw them in Maurice's, I knew I just had to have them. Running up the side of them, was silver rhinestones and embellishments on the pocket. They had just enough bling that they'd be perfect for a party. In the back seat, I find the perfect pair of white leather open toed pumps and grab those as well. The heels were perfect, only four inches so I would be the perfect height. I head back inside and decide to wear my white and black striped silky tank top. After spending almost an hour on trying to do my hair, I finally give up and just throw into a messy bun, letting a couple pieces frame my face. "You ready yet," I hear Luke holler from the living room. Ugh, I don't even have time to do my makeup. I rush from the room and grab my purse by the door. "Yes, I suppose. I have on no makeup though," I snap. Luke comes up from behind me wrapping his arms around my waist and kisses the side of my neck. "That's fine. You know I like you so much better without your face painted anyway." My cheeks turn read and I nudge him off of me. "Well let's go then since you're rushing me." He just chuckles and his hand lands a smack on my ass. "Yes ma'am."
