The drive to Clint's was pretty short. It only took us fifteen minutes to get there and by the time we did, the driveway was full of cars. Thank God we decided to take one car because I don't think my truck would have fit anywhere and I sure as hell didn't want to end up parking on the side of the road. Luke parks in the last available spot in the driveway. If he had a bigger car it probably wouldn't have fit. He turns the car off and climbs out, walking to my side of the car and opens mine as well. "Well, thanks babe." Luke reaches out for my hand and grasps it, pulling me up and closes the door behind me. We make our way to the door and as we walk, I notice a couple of people that I knew from when we dated before. Lauren bounces up the sidewalk and wraps me up in a hug. I remember her from the first round. She used to hang on every word Luke said and many fights were stationed around her. Of course she would be here. From what I remember, her and Adam were in a pretty serious relationship. With that being said, I knew that Adam wasn't really the commitment type so I doubted they were still a couple. Should I mention it or would it be rude? "I'm so happy to see you Maci! I didn't know you'd be here! Are you just visiting or will you be here for a while," she asks, a genuine smile spreading across her face. "She'll be here for a while, with me," Luke answers for me. I shoot him a glare. His hand tightens around mine and I wince. "Why don't you go ahead. I'd love to catch up with Lauren. I'll meet you inside," I order him. He gives me a wary smile before kissing my cheek and walking away. He's probably upset with me but I could really use some alone time with a girl and right now my only option is lauren. I give her a smile and we begin walking towards the door ourselves. "So how have you been? I hope this isn't being too intrusive but are you and Adam still dating? I remember last time we spoke, y'all were," I finally ask. There, now it's out of my system and out of the open. Lauren's face beams with excitement. "Yes! We're actually engaged. I never thought that Adam would settle down. Especially with me but, I'm happy he did." She shows me her hand and I notice a engagement ring with a huge shiny diamond a top of it. "Wow, I'm so happy for you! Congrats Lauren." I really hope she doesn't notice the hint of sadness in my voice. This could be me right now. Showing off my rock to all my friends and bragging about my amazing fiancé but instead I'm here. I reach up and wrap my fingers around the heart shaped locket Liam gave me just weeks before I left. "So, you and Luke? What's that about? Have acted like it would kill him to leave you alone with me for more than two seconds," Lauren nervously asks. As if it was a joke, I look over and see Luke standing over to the side of the huge front yard, staring our way like some kind of body gaurd. I giggle and push her arm. "Well, I'm visiting him until he leaves for New York in a couple months. It's a pretty good escape from boring ole Texas." That was a pretty good answer and I didn't give away too much of the story. I really didn't want Lauren knowing what was going on and asking a ton of questions. She was always pretty good at being nosey. "Well, while you're here, we should go out sometime. Have a girls night, if you will. I know Bethany and Avery would love to see you again. Avery talks about you constantly." A night out with my old girlfriends does sound pretty nice. I groan remembering that Avery is going to kill me. I never even told her I was here. "Oh. My. Fucking. Gosh. Maci Michelle Hall. Is that you?!" Avery's voice squeaks from behind me. I turn my head slightly and see her running towards me from inside the house. We wrap each other up in one of the biggest hugs we've ever given to anyone. "Hey Avery. I was hoping you'd be here." Avery scoffs at me. "Oh whatever. I know you've been here for like two days now and you still haven't hit me up. Good to know that Luke is more important than your girls. I know that dick is not that good." She waves her hand as if the idea itself is ridiculous. My cheeks turn red and I look down at the grass. "Oh my gosh, you've been fucking him again and you didn't call me?! Boo, whore!" Lauren giggles and grabs my hand. "Let's go smoke like the old days and you can tell us everything," she squirms. I look over the side of the house and see Luke laughing with Adam and Clint about something. My guess is it's some kind of joke about math knowing those three. I notice a drink in Luke's hand. Guess he's going o be drinking. Our eyes meet and I nod towards the house before holding my fingers up to my lips as if I'm smoking a joint. He smiles at me and nods as we make our way to the house. Lauren wraps her arm in mine in one side and Avery follows lead on the other side. This is gonna be an amazing night.
