Luke and I had just sat down for dinner. We had both just gotten off work and both exauhsted. "Did I tell you about Katelyn? Who she was," I ask him before putting a bite of sushi in my mouth. Luke clears his throat and takes a drink. "I don't think so. I know of her. That's the girl that called right after Liam, correct?" I nod and begin telling him the story of our conversation after I called her back. Katelyn had went on and told me that Liam was beginning to get very controlling. A friend of the family informed her of me and what had happened and she panicked, trying to contact me immediately. After talking with the girl for over an hour, Katelyn finally decided that she needed to get out before things got too bad. They hung up and we hadn't heard from her since. That was two weeks ago and honestly, I started to worry. "I mean, what if things turned for the worse? What if her hurt her for trying to leave Luke? I'd never forgive myself," I whimpered. Luke reaches over wrapping his arms around my shoulders. "Maci Michelle, don't think like that. Look at it this way. You got away didn't you? Which means so can she. Be positive. I'm sure the girl is just hurting right now. She might just need time alone for a while," he tried to assure me. It helped a little, don't get me wrong but I was still scared for the girl. I hadn't heard from her sense and if I knew Liam, (I did) he was probably torturing the poor girl. My phone rang from in the living room and I went to answer it, noticing that it was Avary. Damnit, I remembered I was supposed to meet with her for drinks and dinner tonight. I dreaded answering the call but I knew if I didn't it would probably ring for hours until I did. "Maci Hall," I sweetly answered hoping to soften the blow when I told her I wouldn't be coming tonight. "Do not Maci Hall me, skank. You promised me dinner and drinks tonight and you haven't called me in days. What the hell is going on? If your skinny ass doesn't walk through my door within the next hour, there will be hell to pay," she screeched. I look towards Luke and back to my phone but all I get from him is a nod. Out of all the nights that he decides to want me to go out, it's tonight. "Avary, I'm kind of dealing with some stuff right now. Can I call you back tomorrow?" Avary hisses on the other end and I know the only way this is going to end is with me in her house in an hour. "Fine, I groan. "Let me get some damn clothes on."
Two hours later me and Avary are huddled up in a corner booth in one of the hottest night clubs in town. The grin plastered across her face reminds me that she's already down three tonics in the last thirty minutes alone. Something must seriously be up with this girl. She yawns and wraps her arms around my shoulder. "From what Clint has told me, Luke has a pretty big surprise in store for you this weekend," her eye quirks up and I laugh nervously. "I don't know who informed you of that but we're going to visit my sister and her husband in Utah for the weekend into next week. Not sure how he can surprise me with anything there." Avary raises her hand and the waitress comes to our tables. A shiver runs down my spine when Avary gives the waitress a sultry smile. Is Avary lesbian? Now that I thought about it, I had never seven seen her go on one date with a guy and if any girl swung for the other team, it was this man hating woman sitting next to me. "Two vodka tonics please and don't skimp on the vodka. Actually, if you'll be the one bringing them, make that three." The young girls blushes and writes on her notepad. A couple minutes later she shows back up with three tonics and a piece of paper from her pad. "Here's to the sisterhood," Avary screams and bumps glasses with us before downing her drink in two big gulps. After being on my third drink, my head starts spinning slightly. I put a tip on the table and grab up my purse and keys. "I'm sorry but I need to get home. It's getting late and me and Luke have to head out early in the morning. Goodnight girls," I tell the waitress and kiss Avary on the cheek. My bed is calling my name it sounds so sweet. The second I open the door to the club and make my way to my truck, I know something isn't right. Out of the corner of my eye, I see a shadow on the concrete. A shadow that looks a lot like Luke. Just to the right, I can make out Liam's Camaro and my heart drops to my chest. I let my keys and purse fall to the ground and run to Luke. My phone was still in my pocket and I reach behind me, dialing 911 and screaming into the phone. "Help. Please. My boyfriend. Something happened. I'm at the nightclub at grande and 11th street. There's one other person. Please help me!"
