he walked me up to a place and told me to open my blindfold and so i did , and when i opened my eyes i saw a room beautifully decorated with blue led lights on the wall and white balloons all over the floor and a table in the middle of the room decorated with white roses and blue candles
"did you think i'd forget" said manik looking at me
i smiled at him with a shocked expression and again looked at his arrangements to just make sure i am not dreaming
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY NANDINI MURTHY" he whispered in my ear
i didn't know what to say so all I could do was turn around and hug him but surprisingly he hugged back and we pulled away without any awkwardness this time which itself was quiet weird i thought to myself as he held my hand and pulled me into the room
N : manik you didn't have to do all of this , like seriously
M : offcourse i had to , its your birthday after all
N : manik can i ask you something
M : sure , anything
N : its just been 5 days since we are friends and still you are doing so much for me , i mean i am no one special you know
M : off course you are special nandini , your the one of a kind person in my life
N : what do you mean ?
*he looks into my eyes and says*
M : the past 5 days were the best days of my life , things just completely changed , i found a person who would listen to me and not judge me at all , with whom i can share all my problems and id instantly get a solution . i don't know nandini jab bhi kuch bhi hota hai acha ya bura sab se pehle tumhe batane ko dil karta hai , i don't know why , but whenever i talk to you or whenever i am with you everything feels perfect
*i smiled with tears in my eyes listening to all of the things he said and he noticed that and he knew that i didn't have reply as my eyes spoke he smiled and wiped them off*
M : ghochu apne birthday pe kon rota hai :p
N : Manik ! you're the best
M : tell me something i don't know . acha ab cake kato gi tumhare chakkar main breakfast bhi nahi kiya maine
* i smiled and cut a piece of cake of which he took a bite of and i did too as we sat there for an hour or more maybe , i didn't realized the time as i was too busy in our chats ,taking pictures, those awkward silences , when i caught him looking at me and when he caught me blushing because of him
we left at 8:30 as the college was going to start at 9:00 , manik called the guard and told him to lock this door till the end of the day and to get it all cleaned after that "perks of being the trustee's son" :)
M : chalo lets go to the canteen and wait for others
he turned around and started walking
N : MANIK!
M : han.
N : (i walked up to him) thank you
M : nandu for this you've said thank you 30 time in the past 45 mins , as in thank you manik this the best birthday ever , thanks manik u didn't had to and etc etc etc
N : that's not what i thanked you for this time
M : then ?
N : for sharing your problems with me , for listening to my solutions , for coming to me when something good or bad happens , and most of all for being the greatest friend
he smiled at me and i smiled back realizing the fact that we don't need words our eyes, smiles , tears they all talk but the best part was that we understood each and everything clearly without explaining it ............
*and we went to the canteen*
