KS: sorry (she mumbled)

Soon, all the sums were done. Karishma looked at Haseena with puppy eyes

HM: bilkul nahi, khade hoke aage ka solve kariye, kahi doubt aaye toh bula lijiyega

KS: aap kaha Jaa rhi hai?

HM: room mei, files leke aate hai thodi der mei

Karishma nodded in an understanding manner

Karishma stood, shifting from one leg to another, the sums overlapping her mind, she sighed.

She didn't have an option other than solving, if she asked a doubt, Haseena would begin with cross questioning, Karishma definitely was not ready for that, so she decided to focus again.

After 5mins, Karishma's phone rang, it was kept on the sofa, she conveniently made her way towards it, but before she could reach there

KS: aayiii, ouchh, noor diii

she looked at Haseena, being startled. Haseena had come to fetch a glass of water, but when she noticed Karishma, out of punishment, towards her phone, she grabbed her ear, stopping her way before she could even reach to her phone

HM: kya karne jaa rhi thi aap?

KS: uhm, phone baj rha tha na

HM: padhai ke beech mei phone ka mana kiya hai na?

Karishma nodded meekily

HM: Uparse aapko punishment di thi na, khade hoke solve karne ki, vaha se kyu aayi fir aap?

Karishma looked away, being caught

HM: bolo ab?

KS: aha, bas kiska call hai ye dekhne aaye the

HM: pyaar se samjha rahe hai aapko, samajh jaaiye, jab tak sums finish nahi hote, you won't move from there

Karishma looked at her with widened eyes

KS: par...

HM (intervened): no par, var, if you don't listen, then not me, but the ruler will do the talking

Karishma gulped at the sight of the ruler kept on the dining table. She knew, Haseena meant it, she never gave empty threats.

Falling in trouble was the last thing Karishma wanted, especially when she had a plan to convince Haseena for a Lucknow trip after two weeks.

Haseena walked back to her room. While Karishma continued her sums, this time focused, Haseena's warnings worked quite well on her.

She made a mental promise, to not move from there unless asked by Haseena. She was in no mood to taste the ruler.

After some time,
The door knob of the main gate twisted open.

Karishma stood there, frozen at the sight.

Amma, Ammi, Pushpa ji and Santu had just walked in, they had a few packets in their hands.
It seemed as if they'd returned from some shopping day out.
