Even though I know hyung is at home waiting for me, I have half a mind to ditch him. It's not that hyung's cooking is bad, but, call it young love, I want to see him. It's been days since I last saw him. Understandably, he is busy with work and as far as I remember the case he was working on the first time we met haven't been solved yet.
So it's quite selfish of me to want him to meet me.
"Bye, teacher!!"
"Bye-bye teacher!"
The last two students of mine left the classroom waving back at me as they did. I smiled as I watched them laugh and run down the corridors, sure to get scolded by the janitor for doing so. Finally free from my duties, it was time for me to leave too. For a moment, a fleeting thought crossed my mind, to call him.
I looked down at my phone screen, his contact name blinking back at me.
Lovebug <3
My thumb hovers over for a moment but doesn't click on it.
"Mr. Jeon!!"
I flinched, clutching my phone hard in my hand as I turned to the sudden intruder of my peace. "Mr. Lee." I smiled shakily, silently cursing him in my mind for creeping up on me. Does this man has no care for my wellbeing? How can he be so quiet like a ghost?
"Oh— are you alright? It's not hot today, maybe you should leave early, Mr. Jeon. You don't look well. Do you need my hel-"
"No!" I said a little too loudly when I realised what he was going to propose. "N-no, I mean, I can walk back home. I am fine, just a little tired. Thankyou for your concern, though." He looked worried for me and I couldn't blame him. My actions were questionable.
We both stared at each other for some time, an awkward silence filling the air, when a voice echoed in the empty room.
"-gkook? Hello? Jungkook-ah?"
In the silence, the new third voice was clear to both and us. We looked down at my phone, the device from where the sound was coming.
"What's happening? Should I come?"
Instantly I realised what it must look like to him. Getting a call but no one to answer and then a strange man asking to drop me off home. I hastily picked my phone to ears as I passed a apologetic smile to Mr. Lee.
"Hey, no, I am fine. I didn't actually realise I called you— no I said, I am fine, just a little tired." I tried to convince him so he would not have to come to school as he was proposing but then a thought crossed my mind.
Since he is so adamant, why not? It's good to be selfish once in a while.
"Well... if you insist and since you said you are not busy right now... let's have lunch together?"
"Are you teasing me?"
I chuckled at how small and doubtful his voice came out to be. "Oh no, lovebug, now why would I do so? Pick me up, let's have lunch together."
"Be there in 5!"
His happiness was loud in his voice as he quickly hung up the call. My lips barely suppressed the smile cradling on my face as I looked down at the screen. His eagerness was clear as glass and I had no doubt he would be running to his car right now if he wasn't already sitting in it. Guess I won't have to miss my man for long.
"Ahm."
Oh. I forgot Mr. Lee was also here. I looked up at me, and surprisingly his face was flushed red, like someone choked him a moment ago. "Are you alright, Mr. Lee?" I asked out of concern but he just waved me off, chuckling nervously.
