I used to write poetry,
And my rhymes weren't worth a dime.
In fact, none of them really made sense,
So maybe I was just wasting my time.
But if you were to ask me today,
Why I write these poems so often,
I would say it's because I have thoughts,
That I can't describe with simple conversation.
I'm not that unique,
I guess that's true,
But when I'm typing black on white,
I don't need to believe the truth.
Poetry,
Cheesy as it may seem,
Is the one way I can find,
To escape a low self-esteem.
