"How many dates does it take to say we're actually dating?" Calum asked out of pure curiosity.
Nora gritted her teeth. "We're not dating because you haven't taken me on a date. Minimum is 3, for me, anyway."
"But I tried and that's what matters." Calum said, walking a couple steps behind Nora as she restocked books.
Nora volunteered to cover Luke's responsibilities while he was on vacation, which meant she had a lot of restocking to do. Calum was only there because it was a Saturday night and he had nothing better to do than bother the girl he considered to be his girlfriend.
"Please don't tell me you've been telling people we're dating. Because the writer of that gossip rag excuse of a newspaper at school asked me to 'confirm' my status on the issue and I told her to take her questions and put em where the sun don't shine."
Nora tried to reach a book at the top shelf, but she wasn't tall enough. Even on her tip toes she couldn't get a strong enough grip.
"Need help?" Calum asked, completely amused at how determined Nora became over something so simple. He could easily reach the book for her but he learned his lesson:
Sometimes, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do...until she realizes she might need a little help."No. I got it." Nora huffed. She was going to get this book, even if it killed her.
"Okay. I'll be here, then" Calum said, crossing his arms and leaning on the book cart. He watched as Nora was continuously failed in her attempts before he figured it was best to give her a little bit of help.
Nora huffed out an exhasperated breath of air before turning to look at Calum.
"Maybe I could use a little bit of help this once."
Calum smirked to himself while he stepped forward. The book cart groaned slightly, no longer supporting the teenage boy.
Nora watched as Calum leaned towards her. She held her breath as he gently held onto her waist to steady himself while he grabbed the book.
Calum knew exactly was he was doing as he grabbed the book and took a step back.
"So how about that date?" He asked, smirking at his own ability to be incredibly smooth.
"How about I finish restocking while you go home?" Nora tried to grab the book from him, but Calum held onto it. They both stood there refusing to let go.
"I'll go home if you kiss me."
Nora thought about this for a moment and, as much as she wanted to, she refused to give him the satisfaction.
Calum knew Nora was going to think about this before she said anything, so he just went for it.
No regrets, right?
