"Tyler I can't believe school starts tomorrow," Connor groaned. Tyler was hanging out at Connor's house for their last day of freedom."I know," Tyler said, "Where did the summer go?!"
"I don't know" Connor said, "but let's just do something I don't even want to think about school."
"Ok! What about Netflix?" Tyler offered.
"Yeah, sounds good I've got to go to the bathroom so you can pick the movie." Connor said.
He didn't wait for Tyler's reply as he hurried off. He didn't have to use the bathroom he just felt sick, not physically, but his stomach was in knots because of the thought of school starting. The last time he was in a real school he got bullied, made fun of, and quite frankly he was terrified to go back.
He sank down on the tile floor, imagining every possible thing that could go wrong. I can't believe I'm like this when Tyler is over, he thought, I should be happy that my best friend is here with me. By this time he realized that he had tears streaming down his face. What did I do to deserve this, he asked himself. Then he started crying even harder.
"Con, are you ok?" Tyler softly spoke from the other side of the door.
Shit, he heard me, Connor thought.
"Y-yeah, I'm f-fine." Connor managed to say between sniffles.
"No your not, I'm coming in." Tyler said.
Tyler slowly opened the door to find his best friend sitting in the corner crying his eyes out. Connor hated it when Tyler saw him like this. Tyler knew about Connor's health issues and was always there to comfort him when he needed it. Tyler say down on the floor next to Connor, pulling him into a hug.
"Tell me what's wrong Connor," Tyler asked, his voice full of concern.
I-I-I'm n-ner-vou-s," Connor said trying to stop crying.
"Don't be," Tyler said. "It's going to be ok, I promise."
"You don't understand Tyler, thats what everyone says!" Connor said getting frustrated. "It's always, Stay strong Connor I believe in you! Or it's, Don't worry about it Connor your going to be ok! Does it look like I'm ok to you Tyler?" Connor screamed, "Does it look like it going to get better?"
"I'm sorry Connor," Tyler said his eyes welling up with tears.
Connor glanced up at Tyler seeing the tears in his eyes, which made Connor cry even harder.
"Tyler I'm so sorry," I don't deserve you as a friend," Connor said as he wiped his eyes. "You shouldn't have to deal with someone like me. I am always just a bother to everyone. You deserve a better best friend Ty, why do you even waste your time on me?"
"Connor I know that you can't see this, but you are the best friend anyone could ask for and I wouldn't trade you for the world," Tyler said, pulling Connor closer so be could rest his head on Tyler's shoulder.
"Tyler, I still don't know why you deal with me but thank you. Thank you so much" Connor said.
"I will always be here for you. Now what about that movie?" Tyler grinned.
"Sure," Connor said forcing a small smile onto his face.
