Frankie :
I subconsciously wake up at an inhumane time.
The sun is still hidden behind the midnight sky and stars.
There's a harsh wind that causes the tall tree's branches to tap against the window glass.
I hear an inaudible snore come from Hollis' bed. It's almost quiet enough to be taken as a small creak or hum.
He looks better like this. Calm and peaceful. My wolf, Alessandra was itching to touch him.
She knew better. She knew very well.
My stomach growled and I clutched my tummy tightly. This can't be happening now.
Let's get something to eat and get a head start at today's chores. Yeah? Alessandra suggests. She knows i haven't eaten anything since two days ago.
Okay. Just a quick snack and then we get right to work. I state, knowing that she and I might knock out on the kitchen floor.
I lazily stepped away from the couch and made my way through the hallways until I found the kitchen.
I grabbed a bowl full of strawberries and started to munch away.
"Oh god. This is so good." I took big bites and finished the strawberries faster than I would've imagined.
I rinsed the bowl and started washing the rest of the dishes.
As soon as I was done, there was someone who let out a groan of pain.
I reflexively got in a defensive stance and faced the culprit.
"Someone needs to get rid of that island." Hollis groaned and clutched his side.
I stifled my laughter and kept a stoic face plastered.
"What are you doing?" I asked him. He shrugged and saw the washed dishes.
"I came to look for you. I didn't see you on the couch so I got worried. What are you doing here?" He asked waiting for me to explain the clean dishes.
"Just needed some air." I lied smoothly. He narrowed his eyes on me and let it slide.
"Okay. Just don't do that again. I can hire someone to clean up the pack house mess. But, you can't lay a finger on anything that involves you doing any kind of work. That's an order." He says in a kind way.
"Look, alpha Hollis I understand that you feel bad for me but, this is getting strange. You won't beat me when I back talk, threaten, or break a rule. Can we return to that please?" Though I hate to beg for the abuse again, i have to.
He isn't being himself.
He is being himself. He's trying to show you his soft vulnerable side because your his mate and Luna. Alessandra was trying to convince me that perhaps Hollis is different now.
But, I'm afraid that any second that I feel myself letting my guard down , he'll simply go back to alpha mode and then realize who his mate is and probably, most likely kill me.
"I'm being myself. I'm actually myself. I'm here right now. Being myself with...you, my beautiful mate." Hollis said. I almost would have laughed if this had been a different occasion with a different person.
"Okay." I shrugged him off and began to put away the things I had taken out to clean up with.
"I said don't touch-" i waved my hand in the air and dismissed what he was about to say as shit.
"That was an order." Hollis snarled and I flinched. I dropped what I had in my hand and gave him a forced smile.
He noticed right away and began to pace towards me. His scent was seriously making me dizzy.
"Okay. I'll go to my room and reconsider living if that's what you want..." I offered knowing that that's what the past Hollis would have loved to hear me say.
"Can you stop treating me like I'm the bad guy! I know I screwed up but, at least cut me some slack!" Hollis' voice cracked and he did the most unexpected thing.
He pulled me into his chest and started to sob uncontrollably.
He was crying in my arms.
The big bad alpha is crying.
In my arms.
I didn't make a move to hug him back but, I didn't make a move to push him away either.
"Hollis..." I murmured against his hard chest. Then the harsh words came back to bite me in the ass.
Why'd you touch me?! You're fucking disgusting. Don't EVER touch me again. The sound of the slap came back to me as well.
I shoved him away and he looked at me quizzically. A look of fear and loss taking over his green eyes.
"I'm sorry. I just. You told me not to touch you....ever." I reminded him. He squeezed his eyes shut before reopening them and slamming his fist onto the surface of the island.
There was a large crack when he hit it. The surface shattered and his balled up hand was bleeding.
"Hollis-I mean alpha, are you-" he furiously stomped away not letting me finish.
I worried about what might come once the sun is finally high and above our heads.
His behavior now doesn't match up to the one merely two days ago.
Why'd the moon goddess decide that this guy and me were perfect for each other?
