Hollis stared blankly at me . he seemed to be crumbling away as he dropped to his knees and let out a guttural growl .
his body shook and my voice was caught in my throat as the realization was hitting me now .
he genuinely was sorry.
"Hollis i-" I started as a lump formed in my throat and I couldn't continue at all .
"it's fine." he stated unemotionally.
"no, I'm sorry." I said shamefully as I looked down at my own two feet keeping my eyes off of him .
afraid that he'll laugh or give me a look of pure hatred.
"you have no-" I didn't let him finish because I held his warm hand in my cold one . feeling automatically in peace .
"I do have to say sorry," I began and rubbed circles into his palm nervously, "I'm sorry for being a complete ass."
I let go of his hand. immediately feeling my hand grow cold again.
"it's okay." he mumbled and held onto the hand I just held with his free one.
"let's call a truce? no fighting or anything. two new strangers?" I asked him. suddenly u saw his eyes spark with excitement.
I absolutely wasn't referring to starting over. I mean strangers.
"yeah. I'm Hollis." he said as he outstretched his hand for me to shake. I couldn't help but, feel giddy. at least we'd get to start over.
"don't think that I won't forget-" I started and he furrowed his brows playfully with an innocent face.
"I'm sorry but, I have no clue on what you're talking about." he said.
I couldn't help but give him a small smile and return his gesture.
I took his hand in mine and shook it.
"I'm Frankie."
