THE NEW (NEW) plan was as follows: check if the coast was clear before sneaking out of the restroom, blend in with the crowd leaving the Back to the Future showing, hitch a ride on the bus, and then it was home sweet home. Dustin told them it was a genius, fail-proof plan. Steve said he was being too cocky. Dustin said he wasn't. (He was.) Rhiannon thought they should head to the cabin because her dad would know what to do. He'd probably call Dr. Owens or something, because Dr. Owens knew a bunch of shady people who could help them. It would all work out perfectly in the end.

Except sneaking out was easier said than done.

The Soviets were waiting at every exit.

"Stay calm," Rhiannon whispered, slipping into the busy corridor. "I can take care of them."

"Are you gonna 'take care' of them in front of all these civilians?" said Dustin, pulling down the cap situated over his curls to hide his face. "How do you think they'd feel watching you slurp someone's guts like spaghetti?"

"I can be sneaky," Rhiannon muttered in protest.

"Yeah. Maybe that's not the best idea," said Steve, checking over his shoulder that they weren't being followed, his eyes darting over the herd.

Pouting, Rhiannon considered their options. "Then we'll have to lure them somewhere."

Robin abruptly stopped, and Steve would've bumped into her if he hadn't caught himself. "Hey, guys? I think they're coming," she said.

Rhiannon followed her gaze and saw a handful of guards about ten feet away, creeping through the crowd like sharks, forcing the fish to part around them.

"Abort mission," Dustin muttered. The guards spotted them and reached for their guns. "Abort!"

Without thinking, Rhiannon grabbed the kids and took off in the direction they came. Steve led them to the escalators, which were blocked off with a rope.
