"WHAT HAPPENED TO waiting for me?" Rhiannon demanded scathingly as they tore through the compound, ducking when live wires showered her in sparks.

Their escape had quickly descended into chaos, the base turned into a war zone, with sirens howling and red lights flashing wildly in one massive cacophony. Bodies of soldiers inundated the corridors, some groaning, most of them lying still, and one unlucky soul with his guts spilled across the concrete. She had burned through them like a wildfire. Her hands were shaking, not from fear, but from the sheer amount of adrenaline still coursing through her system. The anger hadn't worn off, not even close.

"We were curious," said Dustin, who was preoccupied with driving. "It's not like we knew we'd get stuck in a Russian elevator!"

A string of curses left Rhiannon's lips as they skidded around a corner, wheels screeching in protest. She never should've let him drive. Because now she was awkwardly wedged between two kids with barely any space to move her arms, clutching Erica with every sharp turn to keep her from being launched out of her seat. Steve and Robin, who were trapped in the metal cage attached to the back designed for hauling cargo, were screaming their heads off like they were on a roller coaster at Disneyland.

"You should've waited," Rhiannon hissed. "You could've gotten yourselves killed."

"But we didn't, did we?" Dustin's knuckles whitened, his foot slamming on the gas.

"Slow down, man!" Steve yelled.

"What's wrong with them?" Erica asked as Steve and Robin broke out into uncontrollable laughter, because this seemed to be the most hilarious thing ever.

"How would I know? I just got here," Rhiannon shot back.

The cart slammed into a set of barrels by the elevator, sending their cargo reeling. A chorus of groans came after as they collided with the metal grating. Rhiannon hopped off and unlocked the cage door, grabbing both Steve's and Robin's hands while they complained about the ride. She was still holding onto them as they stumbled into the elevator, bumping into everything and nothing.
