Scarlett
The next day was Samuel and I's date, and my nerves were ramping up for real. The main reason being that I was about to go on a date with the goddamn Prince. The other reason was that I was afraid of liking him too much and then getting eliminated. I know I said I would give him a chance, but I still can't get the fact he has free reign to do whatever he wants and then throw us out out of my head.
I just don't want to get hurt like I was last time, so I'll need to have my guard up. If he even tries anything with me I will not refrain from hurting him, I don't care who he is.
Right now Cassandra, Ella, Adele and I were all sitting together in the Women's Room. We'd just came back from breakfast, where we'd realized that Kyla and Shannon had both been sent home.
Although I hadn't gotten to know either one of them, I was upset they were leaving. Kyla was really funny and interesting once she opened up, and I'm sure Shannon was too. The prince just needed to give them more time. Ella and Adele were now the only people left who were from the same area as me.
The Women's Room had been transformed from a makeshift beauty parlor with dress racks and vanities everywhere, to a comfortable lounge with a tv, snacks, sofas, and chaise lounges scattered around the room in groups. Back in some of the corners or by a wall were film crews and photographers for news outlets and magazines, but I, as well as most of the other girls, did my best to ignore them.
The majority of everyone seemed to stick with the same people they flew in with, for example, Oriana Pierce from Bankston hung around Zoey Dixon and Angela West who were from St George and Atlin. But there were also people who stuck with people who were their caste, like Adelaide Garcia stuck around another two named Quinn Marson, who seemed to know each other despite them living provinces away. Both of them were models, from what I could tell of their conversation, and they had met at a shoot with Coco Chanel or Prada or something.
Most of the girls were talking, but some of the more reserved ones like Summer or Nora read a magazine or book quietly.
I could hear bits and pieces of other people's conversations, too. Eden and Cora were conversing about their favorite beaches, and Ember and Harley were arguing about their favorite baseball teams. Everyone was wearing their long gowns, and it seemed like people were sticking with the same color gowns as previously.
"Hello? Earth to Scarlett?" Class said, snapping her fingers near my face.
"Hm?" I asked, trying(and failing) to act like I was listening to their conversation the whole time.
"Did you hear anything we were saying?" Ella questioned.
"Umm yeah?" I sounded unsure, and I could tell they all saw it. Adele raised her eyebrows at me but said nothing.
"Then what were we talking about?" Cassandra asked, knowing I had no idea what the answer was.
I paused to think for a moment. "Prince Samuel?" Everyone erupted into laugher, filling the room with noise.
"No! W-we asked you wh-at your birthday was!" She spluttered through her laughs.
"Oh..." I said, blushing. "It's August 12, by the way."
We continued to talk for a few more hours, before we got bored and got into the tabloids. I picked up one that was all about the Selection, called The Prince's Choice. On the cover was a picture of Samuel, and all thirty-five of our form pictures on the side. On one aside it had three different questions: Who's your favorite? Who will the prince choose? Who is our next queen?
