Scarlett
"Are you crazy?!" I screeched in the middle of the store. My mom and I were shopping for clothes to wear for my selection picture, and what she was holding up was anything but appropriate. It was a black, lacy, really tight body con dress with a deep v-neck that showed off all the assets I didn't want to show off. There were cut outs on the sides, and the dress would barely cover my butt. Needless to say, it wasn't my thing.
"What? It's cute!" She defended.
"Cute? More like slutty. I'm not going to show up there with my ass and boobs hanging out of my dress like every other try-hard girl out there. I want something cute and simple." I say curtly. I'm never been one to be picky about clothes, but my mom tends to go a little crazy when it comes to clothes that boys will see, if you catch my drift.
My mom sighed. "Alright then, let's keep looking."
We shuffled through the large women's clothing section for what felt like hours, and yet we still seemed to come out fruitless. Or at least, that's what I thought, until I heard my mother's shrill voice sounding throughout the store.
"Scarlett!!" She squealed, running towards me with at least 10 different clothing items in her hand. "I think I may have found something!"
"Something? More like somethings. You do realize I can only wear one outfit at once right?"
"Well yeah, silly, I've just got different color and size options." She sing-songed proudly.
"Mkay. Should I go try them on?"
"Yes!!" As you can tell, my mom was a little too excited about shopping for the pictures, probably because I never let her take me shopping.
I gather the clothes from her hand and make my way into the pale yellow dressing room. Did all department stores have to make their dressing rooms so damn ugly?
After locking the heavy white door to the stall, I hung up the assortment of clothes on the hooks in the small room, not bothering to really look at them before I was already removing my clothes. The first dress was pretty, to say the least. It was sleeveless and came down to about my mid-thigh, with a white base and golden flowers across it. My only problem was that it had a very deep V-neck that didn't make me feel all that comfortable, so needless to say, that dress was scratched off the list.
After a boring red dress, followed by a plain green dress with long sleeves, I finally tried on a dress that caught my interest. It was a silky, sleeveless white dress with pink, green, coral, and lavender floral patterns spamming across the dress.
It was gorgeous, don't get me wrong, but it wasn't very... me. I normally wasn't one for pretty flowers or silk, but this dress was still stunning so I didn't automatically diss it. The next dress was once again, beautiful. It was a simple, black sleeveless dress with a white stripe followed by black crinoline at the hem. I hung it up next to the floral dress, sighing. This wasn't as easy as I had originally thought it was going to be.
