The days passed very slowly after the strange meeting with the future self of my father. I was very confused and had no idea what to do. But at first I decided to avoid my Dad and make up a plan how I could steal the Tardis. It was mad. The Tardis was his baby and he could smell it if she disappeared. Also, I'd be grounded for the rest of my teenager- time.
Nothing relevant happened for a week. But then Uncle Jack decided to visit us. It was very unexpected and no one knew he planned to visit us until we heard loud knocks on the door. I was sitting in the kitchen and very busy with my homework when they walked in.
"Oh, Rose! You look wonderful!"
Jack hugged Mom and then kissed her. It's so typical, I thought. Ianto sat down beside me and ran his hand through my hair.
"Hello, sweetie! How are you?"
He was obviously very happy to see me. I hugged him.
"Good! Wait... Aren't you guys supposed to be on your honeymoon?"
Jack laughed. "Yeah. But Torchwood is literally an all time job."
His American Accent matched perfectly with his character. It would be a lie to say I was never attracted to him. But it's Jack Harkness we are talking about- Who is not attracted to him?
He sat down and read through my homework.
"Oh, biology... Sounds horrific." He commented after seeing my detailed sketches of DNA.
"Where's big papa?" He added.
I was also wondering where my father went. But mom seemed to know. "He's off to buy some kind of rare alien cake. Already knew you were coming two hours ago." She explained.
I talked a lot to Ianto, as always, because he was one of my best friends. From the moment Jack introduced me to him when I was 12 I trusted this guy with my life.
Mom made tea for all of us and then got into a funny little argue with Jack.
"He got a time machine and is still late." Mumbled Ianto. I nodded.
"I don't even want to know from which corner of the universe he'll get that cake." I replied.
It took Dad another thirty minutes till he joined us. It was all a nice little chat about our boring- or in Jack's and Ianto's case- exciting lives. They talked about the weather. And how Jack could easily scare off my bullies with a Weevil. It was all a normal day in my not so normal family. And the alien cake tasted surprisingly good.
It was all perfect until I decided to ask one question that was on my mind for weeks.
"Jack, I wondered if I... You know... Our school wants us to do an internship after the summer break and... I wondered if it's possible that... I do my internship at Torchwood."
Suddenly everyone went silent. My family wasn't really amused.
"If your Mom and Dad allow it and you have a good plan how to explain this to your school, you can."
I smiled brightly. "Are you serious?! Oh, my god!"
But my mom already shook her head. "You want to fight off aliens in Cardiff?! In Cardiff! It's too far away and I don't want you to get hurt."
Dad agreed.
"We have a Tardis. It's irrelevant because I can go literally everywhere in a second."
Ianto emptied his cup and said: "Do you really want to do this? I mean... It's a lot of paperwork and... we are hunting down a lot of Weevils."

"And it's in Cardiff."
"What's so wrong about Cardiff?!"
I was staring at my Dad. Because he was usually the last person on my side. I continued looking at him until he revealed his opinion about my idea.
"Oh... The next teacher- parent day is going to be fun." He sighed.
I was relieved. He was definitely on my side. Mom was obviously mad.
"You're not going to allow this!"
But Dad shrugged and ate a big piece of cake. He was still chewing when he replied: "Why not? It's just the rift. And Jack is there. He'll care for her."
Jack proudly nodded. "I will. Don't worry."
"It is a town full of dangerous aliens. And you want her to work there for two weeks?!"
Mom was shocked that she was the only one to think this is a bad idea.
"Oh don't worry. Most of the time it's just Weevils... We can take her to a hunt!" said Ianto. He loved the idea as much as I did.
"She is still grounded!" added Mom.
Jack laughed. "Grounded? For what? You got a boyfriend? Oh please tell me you got a boyfriend! Or a girlfriend? Oh, that's my girl!"
I shook my head. Jack was very disappointed. "That's rubbish. Why else would you... Oh, you did not... You did not do the thing?!"
I laughed. "What? No, I did not! Don't worry!"
It was very depressing that our funniest topic was my love life. Well, it is a very poor joke.
"Wow. You obviously got your father's genes there!"
Everyone laughed except Dad.
"No but seriously... Why?" Asked Ianto.
Mom wiped away the tears she got from laughing about Jack's joke and explained what I did wrong a few weeks ago.
"We found out that Mary tried to grow a Tardis."
I sighed. What was so wrong about that? Jack and Ianto laughed so hard that they hit the table several times.
"I am a Time Lord and as some sort of endangered species I have the right to grow my own spaceship! It is like keeping a tradition alive!" I explained. "Anyways, it was just a Type 40 Tardis! Nothing to worry about!"
But even my Dad wasn't on my side. Jack still laughed.
"Your daughter is a real rebel!"

At first I thought it was a bad idea to tell Ianto everything. But he was the one person I trusted the most. I took me almost two hours until I got the chance to talk to him alone. He seemed to be surprised.
"Ianto... I need to tell you something... But it's a secret and you can't tell my parents, okay?"
He nodded but looked a bit confused. It took me a few seconds till I finally decided to tell him.
"What is it?"
I took a deep breath and explained everything. How I met my future Dad and what kind of task he gave me. And how wounded he was. I almost cried. It was all too much for me and I was so thankful that Ianto was there. He hugged me.

"I know... It's all a bit messed up but youshould really tell your father. He can help. I mean... He always knows what todo." Replied Ianto. But I didn't think this was a good idea. "Yeah but... He doesn't even allow me to have my own spaceship." I sighed.Ianto couldn't hold back a laugh. "You alien kids with your alien problems..."I don't know why but for a second Ianto looked very sad. The whole time he andJack acted so fake- happily. I really wanted to know what was going on. "Is Torchwood really the reason you cancelled your honeymoon?" I asked before Ieven thought about it. Ianto looked very shocked. "It is."A single tear rolled down his cheek. He wiped it away and hoped I didn't see. "What happened?"My voice was a bit shaky because I was horrible at social interactions. Andthis one was definitely going too far. I had no idea how to act to make himfeel better. And I knew if I tried to comfort him I would make things worse. SoI said nothing until he decided to tell me his secret. "Yesterday we got a call from Owen... and... Gwen died."I was overwhelmed by the situation. How do you react if someone tells you thattheir colleague/ friend died? I stuttered some hard- to -understand words ofcompassion. But Ianto had no idea what to say, either. "I-I'm- I'm sorry." I finally mumbled. It was all I could think of. "Thanks."We both stared at each other and then decided to join the others again. Jackand Dad were arguing whether a The LordOf The Rings- marathon counts as a first date. Mom was on Jack's side whileI- the number one couch potato in the universe- defended Dad's opinion. No onerealized how fast the time had passed so Jack and Ianto stayed till late night.
"Dad, can you drive me to school tomorrow? I want to sleep till lunch." Iasked. These were the kind of situations where I was extremely proud to have aTime Lord as my father. Okay, what the hell am I talking about- I was alwaysproud! Let's face it- any girl in my class would sell their souls to own a bagthat's bigger on the inside and had anti gravity controls. Or a sonicscrewdriver- Dad promised me to buy one when I turn sixteen.
I went to my bed at one in the morning, slept till lunch and then went toschool at nine. Ah, the Tardis. Others would kill to get one. Time travel isthe best thing against laziness when you're too lazy to fight your laziness.
