Although they fight sometimes, I have to admit that my parents are a super cute couple. Since Dad didn't believe me that his and Mom's timeline is a bit messed up he decided to visit his past adventures and check whether everything is still okay. We both wore a Tardis key to avoid being seen. It all started with their first date- The End of the planet Earth. I always wanted to see this myself.
"Dad, just trust me and let me do this!" I argued. It was a waste of time to see this, even though it was interesting.
"No." He grabbed my hand. "Follow me."
We ran down hallway after hallway until I spotted Mom and a guy- the past version of Dad. He looked so different. But I loved that leather jacket.
"That's you? That's really you?"
He nodded. Mom looked so much younger. And so happy.
"See that big guy. He's called the Face of Boe. Also known as Uncle Jack."
I was too shocked to say anything. When the announcer said that the Face of Boe hosted this event I hit Dad playfully.
"He hosted your first date! Jack hosted your first date! Oh, my god!"
It made me so happy.
"It was not a date!"
Oh, yeah it was. But before I could say anything Dad grabbed my arm.
"Everything is fine here. Let's see what happens next."
I followed him back to the Tardis and we travelled to another important moment of their relationship. When we stepped out I recognised the place.
"Oh, that's new Earth, right?"
We were in a hospital that seemed to be run by cat nurses. For me they didn't look trustworthy.
I was a dog friend.
"Cat nurses? Are you serious?"
He nodded. "That's how evolution works."
Dad used his sonic screwdriver to open the door and we got in a big floor full of patients.
He pointed at himself and Mom.
"That's your Mom and I. This is a very important memory. It was a beautiful time." Explained Dad.
We watched them for a few minutes.
"What's wrong with Mom?"
Dad sighed. "Oh, right... That is Cassandra who stole you Moms body."
"And why is this so important to you?"
Suddenly Mom kissed Dad which answered the question.
"Oh, I see." I grinned. "Your first kiss."
Dad shook his head. "First kiss? Actually, that's our second kiss. And I was technically kissing Cassandra."
We also travelled to the day my Dad fought of the Devil- He had always loved to tell me this bedtime story. Everything was fine. Until we visited the day I was born.First of all the Tardis had problems to materialize. It was all a bit weird. Dad gave me the typical "Don't touch yourself"- speech because something really bad would happen if I touched the little baby. I couldn't believe that this annoying crying thing was really me.
"You always cried so much." Sighed Dad. I had probably caused a lot of sleepless nights. We were both standing outside the hospital and watched our past selves through the window. Dad had promised me something really funny. While Mom lied in the white bed exhausted Dad held me in his arms. I have never seen him so happy. He was smiling brightly and a single tear of joy rolled down his cheek when he said: "Welcome to this world, Mary." Then he kissed the baby's forehead. It was so cute.
"Mary? Seriously?" Mom laughed. She looked so weak.
"Yeah. She looks like a Mary. Look at her eyes." Dad smiled like the proudest Dad in the whole universe.
"No, we're not going to call her Mary!"
But then Dad did the puppy eyes. "She got mummy's eyes."
Mom laughed and nodded. "Fine! You win! Hello, Mary."
I looked at Dad and said: "Everything seems to be right with the timeline."
He nodded. "Let's stay a minute. This is getting hilarious!" He grinned. I expected the worst. That I did something embarrassing in my very early days.
Suddenly the door opened and a doctor walked in.
"This guy is going to freak out. You know why?"
We both grinned. "Two hearts?" I answered.
"Yes. And I think my explanation for that was the finest lie I ever told." Dad smiled proudly.
This was the moment we realized something is wrong. Very wrong.
"She's perfectly healthy." explained the guy. He looked like a creepy old dentist which was probably the reason the baby version of me cried.
Dad's smile faded in less than a second. "What?"
He looked at me and then at the creepy Doctor. "What?!"
It was the prove I needed. The prove that the timeline had to be fixed. Even though it disappointed me. It showed even more that this had to be done.
"See? That's what I meant!"
What Dad said to Mom after the doctor left was even more confusing.
"She's human. One heart. Like us." He grabbed her hand. "Like I promised. We all have one life. So let's spend it together."
Dad was very angry. "What is going on?! This is wrong! C'mon, back to the Tardis! Now!"
I followed him. After we arrived in the Tardis Dad ran an algorithm to check the timeline. It was a lot of timey- wimey stuff.
"I admit it. You were right. Something is going on. But that doesn't mean I'll send you in danger!" Said Dad after starting the Tardis. I wondered what he planned to do next.
"Where are we going, Dad?" I asked worried. If the answer was home I'd have a big problem.
"To an another important day in our life. It was before you were born. I need to check if things are also different there." Explained Dad.
"And where exactly are we going?" I added.
"Well... This is rather embarrassing for me... It's the day I proposed... And your Mom said yes... Even though I- Um... Never mind."
I followed him. We were in a restaurant. But it wasn't on earth because of all the aliens. Dad and I sat down on a table not far away from Dad and Mom from the past.
"And why exactly was this so embarrassing to you?" I asked.
Mom looked beautiful. Everything was perfect. Her hair. Her dress. Her smile. It was obvious that she expected the question.
"Well..." answered Dad. "See it yourself."
Mom cleared her throat only to say: "So, why exactly are we here, Doctor?"
Dad sighed. "Okay. If I lose the ring we know that everything is alright."
I tried to hold back my wild laughter. "You did what?! No, you did not lose the ring. Dad!?"
He slowly nodded. "Yes. I did."
We concentrated on the past Mom again. She seemed to be very nervous. Suddenly Dad kneeled like a real gentleman, showed her the ring and asked: "Rose Tyler, will you marry me?" His puppy eyes made it even more cuter. I looked at Mom again, only to see that she was completely freaking out. She said yes.
"Dad, I think your time- line is screwed up."
"Yeah, you're right." He sighed. This was a really big problem to him.
And I needed to make a final decision. I either listen to what my Dad says or rebel to save his past- and my future.
"Excuse me." I walked all the way down to the restrooms as fast as possible. My Dad sitting beside me would make me even more nervous. After I realized I was completely alone I started to cry. This was too much.
"Mary..."
It was Dad. I turned around only to see it was the Dad from the future.
"What the hell is going on?!" I screamed. "Why is the past changing?"
Dad walked over to me.
"It is changing into something different. This is how your Mom's life will be if you don't save her." Explained Dad.
I was so angry that I wanted to punch the wall.
"Then you were lying to me! Everything seems to be fine. Look, this is just your proposal. You're still together! Even if I don't save Mom- you're still together, you're still marrying and you're still getting me!" I shouted.
He shook his head. "This is a bit hard to explain... But this guy is not me. He is the result of the adventures I have if I lose Mom. You really don't want to hear the whole story, do you?"
I nodded angrily. "Oh yes, I do."
Dad told me everything. How he and Mom will get parted if I don't make it unhappen. How they had to say goodbye at Bad Wolf Bay. How she surprisingly came back, only to fight together with Dad. And most importantly how a human version of Dad was created, with whom Mom decided to spend her life. This guy is the reason I saw the creepy doctor not freaking out- With his genes I would only be a human. Or how he did not lose the ring- he was probably not as clumsy as my real Dad. It's all a bit hard to explain- this story is full of wibbly- wobbly, timey- wimey stuff.
After I finally understood everything, I looked in the mirror to check whether my eyes were red. But it wasn't the eyes I was concentrating on now. My skin looked weird. I checked my hands and realized I was slowly getting invisible.
"Why do I look like a ghost?!" I asked shocked.
He looked at my hand as well.
"You are starting to disappear. To explain this more easily- the universe is beginning to erase you. You don't have much time left. It is your decision but if you don't save Mom you'll cease to exist. I'm sorry."I hid my hands in my pockets and looked in the mirror again.
"Thanks." I sighed.
"I have to go now. I love you, Mary."
I didn't look after him, but when I heard the door closing I knew I was alone again.
It was quiet until someone stepped in again. I was very shocked. It was Mom. She was wearing the ring now.
"Oh, my god! I can't believe it! I'm engaged!" She stood also at the mirror trying to refresh her make- up.
"Congratulations!" I replied. It was so weird to talk to your own mother when she doesn't recognise you. Mom was so happy that she started to talk to strangers.
" Thank you." She smiled.
"And who is the lucky man?" I asked.
"The Doc...Smith. John Smith."
This was the moment I felt strong enough to do it. I would save Mom. I would save the awkward proposal. I would save the awkward birth. I would save my life. But there was a big problem. Actually, the biggest problem one could possibly have. From now on, Dad was my enemy. And no one wants to have my Dad as an enemy.
