Chapter 168
Capital — Grand Hall
Damian waited until the last of the human and hybrid guests had safely exited beyond the hall.
Only then—
He raised his hand.
The barrier pulsed once.
Then solidified.
Denser.
Heavier.
Even an overwhelming magical force would not be enough to break it now.
Inside—
Only Zenips remained.
And those who stood with the Doms.
A woman stepped forward from among the remaining Zenips.
Her presence alone shifted the atmosphere.
Royal rank.
Her name—
Moire.
Her gaze settled on Damian, and for a brief moment... she smiled.
"Well," she said lightly, her voice echoing through the hall,
"What a surprise."
Her eyes sharpened.
"Nice seeing you again, brother... the fallen king."
The title lingered in the air like a challenge.
Damian said nothing.
But the temperature in the room seemed to drop.
Moire laughed softly
and released a spreading cloud of dark, poisonous gas.
It expanded rapidly, swallowing the center of the hall.
The clone of Ashel standing at the center flickered—
then vanished.
Jane's vines reacted instinctively, rising from the floor in defense—
But without her direct control, they moved more slowly.
Weaker.
The once-lively rose vines began to wilt under the spreading toxin.
Zaren's body shifted—
bones cracking, form expanding—
until a massive wolf stood in his place.
Around him, the other wolves followed.
They pushed forward, enduring the poison through sheer resilience.
Damian remained untouched.
The gas curled around him—
but did nothing.
The remaining Zenips seized the moment.
They attacked.
They knew the wolves were compromised.
Zaren lunged first, his massive fangs tearing through one attacker while his claws struck another aside. But even he could feel it—
The poison was creeping through his system.
Slowing him.
Burning through his strength.
The vines collapsed entirely now, blackened and lifeless across the marble floor.
The balance had shifted.
Without Dom's blood circulating through the battlefield—
The Zenips no longer feared instant death.
They pressed harder.
More aggressive.
Damian stepped forward.
A single motion—
and his sword manifested in his hand.
Across from him, Moire smirked.
Her back split open—
dark wings unfurling with a sharp snap.
Her hands transformed, fingers extending into deadly talons.
