Brendon:
While Asteria goes into the restroom I quickly change into some black jeans and a burgundy tee shirt. I slip on a few of my rings and throw my glasses on. I slip on my shoes and step out to the nearest Starbucks.
When I come back I try not to make too much noise. Asteria is humming while she gets ready and it's too lovely a sound to interrupt and she's too lovely a person to embarrass. I step into her room and her bed is made perfectly with an outfit laid out. There's a black and wrote stripped shirt with a solid black shirt pocket, blue jeans, and a black and white flannel. She's also laid out black beanie and some boots and I'm excited to see what she'll look like. I decide to interrupt her humming and let her know breakfast is ready. She stops as soon as she hears me coming.
"I love this song," I tell her as I pop my head into the door.
"Me too," she says with a shy smile. "My favorite line is 'sad, small, sure in porcelain, you're skin and bones, I'm a nervous wreck'."
I smile and sing the next line and she seems excited about us having similar music taste. I'm no Adam Lazarra, but I don't see her swooning over him. Take that Mr. makedamnsure.
"Breakfast is here for you, beautiful." She smiles and I help her change before we go sit to eat. She looks perfect. Completely perfect.
"Oh my gosh! My spinach feta wrap and white chocolate mocha! How did you know?" She's incredibly pleased with her breakfast and I remind myself to thank Davey yet again for the tip on what to get her at Starbucks.
"Lucky guess?" I respond. She smiles and sits at the small dining table to eat and I join her. Halfway through breakfast and her adorable giggling and sassy smirks Davey opens the door.
"Hey lovebirds. How are we doing?" He says as he joins us at the table.
"Starting to hurt. But I have my tasty breakfast!" Asteria exclaims. Was she always this cute or did sleeping with her make her at least ninety percent cuter?
"I see that. How did it go last night Brendon?" He asks. I feel my face blush and Asteria turns pink. "Whoa, what is that? You'd better start talking."
He tenses and you can tell he's trying not to jump to conclusions. I already promised him I'd wait for her and I wouldn't do anything! Why does that have to be the first thing he thinks? My mind flashes back to seeing her in the hospital bed and him telling me about her being a vir-
"I said, talk."
"Calm down, Davey. What's up your ass? I couldn't sleep so...he came and slept with me. That's it. No big deal. It's not like we've never done that."
Wait...what? This time Davey flushes and I'm the one that's pissed.
"Your turn to talk."
"No dude!" They both shout at me at the same time. They go into a story about their first sleepover and the two feet of space that was required between them and I'm feeling better knowing that Davey didn't hold her like I did...but that's still a little uncomfortable for me.
"Are you almost ready, Asteria?" I give up on that topic for the day.
"Yeah! One bite left and we can go!" She holds up the small remnants of her wrap and pops it into her mouth with a smile. "All done."
Davey drives us to campus and I'm sure that Asteria and I have the same reaction. It's beautiful, especially in this fall weather. She's mesmerized at either the campus or the fact that she gets to go here or both.
"This is amazing!" I go around to open the door for the excited, silver-haired beauty.
"Yup, and finding parking is easy because absolutely no one likes to drive in this city. Let's get to class." Davey hands me Asteria's black leather backpack and puts on his own.
She nervously grabs my arm and walks very close to me. People stare at her, they must have heard she was in the hospital. Some take pictures which I think is odd.
"College paparazzi is probably the worst, right man?" Davey nudges me. What?
"Should I let go of your arm?" She asks shyly, offering but unwilling.
"No, love. Don't worry about any of that." I kiss her on the cheek. We pass by an alleyway with a homeless woman and she gives me a small wink. She must know Asteria.
When we get to her class Davey heads to his own. Her instructor is shuffling a few papers around and she doesn't seem very friendly.
"Excuse me?" I ask as politely as possible. She looks up from her paper and to me first, then to a frightened Asteria.
"You've been out of class for over a week. Based on your performance so far I wouldn't be risking that kind of time." She goes back to her papers. "Keep it up and you'll be dropped."
Asteria tries to speak but isn't sure of what to say. I give her arm a small squeeze.
"She was in an accident. She's been in the hospital," I spit out. The rude woman stops what she's doing and looks at me.
"Do you know how often I hear that excuse?" I've lost all patience.
"Okay. How often do you hear that excuse and get a doctor's note and a news story?" I ask rudely. She widens her eyes and looks at Asteria with concern and pity. "That's what I thought. Asteria, go sit down in the back and save me a seat please."
She takes off silently and I look MathBitch dead in the eyes before I go off.
"She has amnesia. She thought she was eighteen when she woke up. She had no idea she was even in college. So if you could just not be a bitch to her that'd be great. We're trying to keep her in her routine with hope that she'll get her memory back and that kind of panic and pressure is going to ruin that, so relax and learn to deal." I walk away and take my seat next to the frightened goddess.
"Why do you think she hates me?" Asteria asks.
"Because she's just a bitch," I whisper. I start to take out Asteria's things. She's incredibly organized. The rest of the class is confusing as hell but she tries her hardest to understand as she takes notes. I can't wait to get out of here and I can tell she's thinking the same thing.
