Asteria:

*2 weeks later*

I finish putting on my fake eyelashes and hope that for some reason Brendon doesn't make it tonight. I haven't talked to him since the pocket call...I don't want to...I take a deep breath and pull the dress from my closet. Davey gives my door a light tap.

"Come in," I say quietly. He steps in cautiously and sees the dress in my hands.

"Asteria, I know you don't want to hear it...but I think you should call him..." he says quietly and I feel myself get weak.

"I can't hear him...Whatever he did...I don't want to know..."

"You don't have to...You should just call him. How many times has he called you today?"

"Seven," I say with a sigh and sit at the edge of my bed, still holding the dress. "I don't want to wear this."

"Ana!" Davey calls into the living room. Ana comes into the room quietly and I can't help but notice the way she looks at Davey. When I look at them next to each other there's a satisfying feeling to it. She's a lot like him. Clean, proper. Her blonde hair is long, almost down to her waist, and she dresses in an odd way that compliments Davey's. And he always seems to notice when her hazel eyes are more green or more brown. I can't wait to surprise him with her being there, too. They've been hitting it off these past couple of weeks.

"Ana, she won't wear the dress," Davey sighs.

"Unacceptable. Put it on. Davey, leave while I force Asteria to put this dress on." Davey raises his hands in defeat and steps out. "Asteria, you have to call him. I know you're scared and hurt but you have to."

"Ana, why was another girl in his hotel room? A. B, what she said was awful...and C, I don't want to deal with hearing about our break up constantly on the radio so before I even show up to this thing with him I'd rather just pretend none of this ever happened."

"Asteria Vayne!" she shouts. My eyes open wide. She's a very strong spirit "You will put on that dress and you will call your boyfriend  and apologize for not getting back to him! Then, you will ask about what you heard! And you will confront the situation! You will not leave this room until you do that!"

"Fine, I don't feel like going anymore anyway," I sigh and lie down. I know I'm being a brat but...I just don't want to deal with this...

"Riri, what did he tell you?" She raises both eye brows at me.

"You know I hate that nickname," I groan. She waits for an answer and I let out a loud sigh. "That he has to work at it. But that doesn't mean it's okay that his first night gone he sleeps with someone else!"

"I doubt that's what he did, Asteria. If he did that he wouldn't still be calling you. I know men. They don't try that hard after they've made a mistake. I shoot her a glare and she hands me my phone.

"I'd rather talk to him in person," I lie. The longer I delay this the better. Maybe he'll just forget about me after a while.

"I'll be watching you," she says and uses two fingers to point at her eyes and then at me. "Now let's change."

She helps me into the dress and body chains, making sure that my head jewelry is just right. Before I put on the bracelets and rings I help her into her dress. She turns and smiles at me and I can't help but smile back in adoration. She decided that going to the not holiday party as a mermaid was a good idea and I didn't understand how it would work until I see it now. Her mermaid dress is a beautiful mauve shade and I realize now that the time she spent in the restroom was used to put silver scales along one arm. Her long hair is in loose waves and she looks amazing, I can't wait to see Davey's face.

"You look beautiful," she says softly as she watches me put on the rest of my jewelry. I smile at her.

"You do, too." She grins and fixes my hair.

"I love that you put more navy and lavender in this," she says happily as she arranges the strands. "The darker shade of silver is what really makes it work."

I thank her and walk over to the door.

"Gentleman," I announce. "Behold! A mermaiden!"

I step aside so that Ana can walk out of the room and my apartment practically shakes with how hard Davey's jaw hits the floor. Ana's cheeks start to turn pink and I have to stifle my giggle. It's about time Davey has a crush.

"David pick your jaw up off of the floor before a spider crawls into it," I laugh. He shoots me an angry look and is quick to get me back.

"I'll remember to tell you the same thing when you finally see your ex boyfriend at the party," he growls. My heart instantly aches. Is that what I want? But what is it that he's done?

"Okay, enough awkwardly standing around! It's a big day for Asteria! Let's go!" I smile at Ana and we head to the venue. The entire ride over all I can think about is what it will feel like to see him...And what he has to say...
