I fluttered my eyes open to my fingers intertwined with Cass's fingers. Still breathing but still asleep. A tear left my eye as she sat there silently inhaling, exhaling. The monitors Hooked up to her beeped in my ear. My mom walked in smiling and handed me a coffee.

"Here you go sweetie" she smiled.

"Thanks mom"

"Aaliyah and your father went To go get some food and Cassidy's mom and dad called, they'll be here shortly" she said sighing.

I smiled and nodded.

"It's okay honey, she knows you love her"

I sighed and shook my head.

"I don't think she does" I replied.

"What do you mean?" She asked furrowing her eyebrows.

"When we were on tour, she came to me worried that I was gonna get bored of her, and then I forgot our date and almost killed her. She's gonna break up with me when she wakes up mom" I said tears flooding my eyes.

"Oh Shawn, you know that's not true" she said holding my shoulder.

I stood up and paced.

"God, what if she doesn't wake up momma?" I said panicked.

"Honey, I know she will, you just got to give it time" she said sitting me back down.

I nodded and sighed.

"Your father and I are gonna go home, you gonna stay here again?" She asked standing up.

I nodded. She smiled, kissed my cheek, and headed out. I grabbed Cass's hand and sighed.

"Say something, I'm giving up on you, I'll be the one if you want me too" I sang cracking my voice from all the crying.

tears left my face dropping onto the bed.

"And I, will stumble and fall, I'm still learning to love" I sang again.

Her chest filled and collapsed.

"And anywhere I would of followed you, say something I'm giving up on you" I sang with some more passion.

She loves it when I sing to her.

"Say something I'm giving up on you" I sang one more time. "And I'm sorry that I couldn't get to you"

One last tear fell onto her hand and I closed my eyes. Then, she gasped springing straight coughing up her lungs.

"Oh my god! Cass! Oh my god, thank you! Cass baby!" I said tears falling from my cheeks quickly.

She ripped from my grip and looked at me confused.

"Cass?"

"Who the hell are you?" She asked.

The doctors came rushing in, pushing me out, and doing tests on her.

"Cass? Cass!? CASSIDY!" I yelled trying to get back to her.

They held me back and carried me to the waiting room. After about 20 minutes they came back out with worried looks on there faces.

"Mr. Mendes" the doctor said clearing his throat. "Cassidy seems to be having some memory lost and only remembers half of her lifetime so she doesn't remember you or your family"

I gasped and fell back in my chair.

"Would you like to speak to her?" He asked.

I nodded sitting up slowly. I walked in seeing her play around with her phone.

"Cassidy?" I said sadly.

"Oh you" she replied sitting up covering her chest with the blanket.

"Uh yeah" I chuckled rubbing the back of my head. "So uh- do you remember me at all?"

She shook her head and I let out a sigh.

"Well um, I'm Shawn Mendes and-"

"Oh yeah I heard you on the radio the other day!" She said. "Well I guess it wasn't the other day"

I chuckled.

"Well I'm your boyfriend"

"No way-" she said. "you're way too cute to be my boyfriend"

I shrugged and smirked. She blushed and giggled in reply.

"But um we've been dating for almost a year, we met at one of my concerts and I saved you from your ex boyfriend Wesley?"

"Oh yeah! Wesley is he here! I wanna see him" she said excitedly.

"Oh no, Cassidy, you don't want to. He abused you and you got a restraining order against him" I replied.

"Oh wow"

I nodded.

"So where's my parents?" She asked.

"They're in the cafeteria, they just came back from Africa to see you but they're gonna leave again"

"Oh yeah they've been talking about that trip forever!" She chuckled.

I smiled.

"And you'll be staying with us" I finished.

"What?! No! I don't know you people!" She said frantically.

"No. No, Cass its okay! You'll be safe I promise!" I said grabbing her hand.

"Don't touch me!" She yelled ripping from my grip.

I shut my eyes and sat back. I held my hands together and let out a big sigh.

"Why can't I be with my parents?" She said rudely.

"Because they're scared something might happen to you in Africa so they trust me to take care of me" I sighed.

"But you're just a kid?! How are you gonna take care of me!?" She yelled.

"Because I love you!" I yelled.

She jumped back.

"I know you don't know who I am, but i hope I can jog your memory like this" I said grabbing my guitar I brought from my jeep.

I began to strum Hallelujah.

"Now I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah

Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah" I sang staring into her eyes.

She sat there silently with glossy eyes like she was about to cry. I finished that chord and waited for her to say something.

"You sang to me when I was asleep huh?" She asked.

I nodded and sniffled a bit.

"I wish I could remember you- you're so sweet and handsome and I'm sure you were a really good boyfriend" she said kindly this time.

I smiled.

"Tell me more what we did" she said leaning in closer to me.

I smiled and sighed in relief.
