Yuuko POV

I've been sitting in my room doodling on a scrap piece of paper when I hear a quiet but noticeable knock on my door.
"Breakfast will be served in any minute" a child's voice called out, it's a little girls voice. Why?
I open the door slightly and peek out to see a little girl no older than ten (must be one of the officers children), she has hazel hair and dark blue eyes. Her eyelashes are long and she doesn't wear makeup, her clothes are a simple kimono which is black with white/pink blossoms crawling up from the bottom. She's beautiful.
I stand out from my door and bow to her as formally as possible, meanwhile she was at the next door.
"Thank you for the notice" I smile and she turns to face me, she smiles. Her teeth straighter than mine, which are also stunning. Her cheeks go a little pink as she smiles.
She bows back, just as formally.
"It's only a pleasure to knock on your door and even speak to you" she moves closer and whispers "you're my favourite contestant"
I smile.
"Why thank you!" I smile and she leaves with a skip in her walk, still graceful. What a wonderful girl.
This morning has been full of surprises, at least it's occupying my mind from the games.
I close my door and start to head off to breakfast as someone's voice, a familiar voice called after me. "Yuuko!" It's Rei.
I turn around, looking at him cold but my cheeks pink, I can feel it.
"Hmm?"
"May we sit together?"
"Tch, I guess. Just don't make it look like we're couples" I try not smiling but I fail as he laughs.
He stands into an army men position and solutes. "Yes Ma'am!"
We both laugh, actually I remember back in high school.. His father was an officer in the army. He was very successful in his job and taught Rei to do the basics in the time he had off.. Until one day..
Rei grabbed my hand and ran off with me which knocked me out of my daydream.
It's his story to tell anyway.
I smile and giggle as we run down the halls. He stops and pushed me up to the wall, he traces my lips then gets closer. He pulls away and winks. "Just kidding" he laughs and we walk a little more until we made it there.
Rei pulled out a chair for me and I sat gracefully down. He took a seat next to me.
I smile at him as he chats with nezumi.
Then I stop myself, what am I doing?! I can't let myself become.. Someone who is vulnerable to love.. Or to let anyone into my weaknesses. That's why I push everyone away.
No one can see my weaknesses.
No one but me, that is.
Kimiko walks in and takes a seat next to nezumi.
"Good morning, kimi-Chan" I smile.
"Good morning, yuu-chan!" She giggles and sparks a conversation about the types of weapons that shell use throughout the games. Then it was my time.
"I'll use my grandfathers hand-crafted katana and if there is anything smaller, like a knife for instance I will get multiple of them" I wink and we laugh.
The microphone got tapped and everyone faced it.
"Okay, well Yuuko. You look amazing today!" He whispers something about my boobs so lightly that nobody could hear. It's the person who told the rules last night.. Tch. He's such a pervert. To make matters worse he could be as old as my dad! You can smell the grog from where I was sitting.
I look at kimiko and blocks everyone out.
That guy, I think his name is Susuke? No. Tsukuke.
He's been on the deadman forest for ages, but he's never been so perverted.
I feel his eyes stare into the back of my head.
I hear his unsteady words spit around the room. He's complementing every girl.
At least one thing nice about them but I hear him say my name once again.
Rei stands up. "Sir, if you don't want to be punched in the mouth I request you to go rest in your room away from the ladies until you're sober. Understood?!" He said it with such a hatred tone but still glamorous.
I'm pretty sure he could win any girl around him at this moment. But he certainly can't win myself.
The drunk man pulled himself off the stage as a the little girl that I saw earlier that looked as if she was a princess stood upon us.
"I'm sorry, my father isn't really in a good mental state. This will not be shown on television and please accept my apology"
We nod and she walks out, once again gracefully after her father.
After a minute we all started talking again and we dug into our breakfast.
I remind myself once again: the games are not for the weak, only for the strong.
