Chapter Twenty-Three

Yuuko's POV

Everyone is different now. That means I have to study them, I know how to be one with the shadow, I know how to sneak. I'm not stupid, I can tell by a humans actions who/what they are.
We are in the centre of the deadman forest.
Most of them ran off and grabbed their weapons. I just stood there until I could see a sword pack.
I bolted across and grabbed the sword, the hand-knife and the bag that came with it. I sprinted across to the middle of nowhere.
Obviously I need to find water first, I can last weeks without food but without water only a few days.
It only makes sense to hide up in a tree where you can look over everyone..
But what if rei, the Neko climbs up? Wait.. He would've lost his Neko powers I assume.
I look around, greenery surrounds me.
I know how to defend myself but with plants and finding water, I'm pretty much useless.
I can hunt without trouble.
I start to climb up a tree, if I get high enough I'll be able to see water right?

Welcome to the deadman forest, it has only began.

Rei's POV

Seems as if everyone really IS different. I quickly eyed my dagger sprawled on the ground while everyone ran off. I swiftly grabbed it and climbed up a tree.

So it looks like I still do have my animal instincts. I pulled out my mirror. My gosh I do look different.

These black eyes are deep...demonically deep...the longer I stared at myself the more darkness stirred around.

I stared to feel my fangs grow in so I quickly shut the compact. The games literally just stared and I'm already losing myself to the sight of my own eyes.

Gosh I'm pathetic. The heart shape necklace started glowing. Seems as if I'm ice col- warm? Someone might be beneath me! Think Rei, who exactly is okay with going underground?

Nezumi would be in the trees like me...

Yuuko would rather go near water.

Kimiko...wait Kimiko!! That could be her down there!

I hear footsteps looks I have to move for now.

The necklace stopped glowing red, no matter as long as I know it works.

Kimiko's POV

As soon as the horn echoed through the forest I grabbed my bow and arrows, a small knife and jumped straight underground.

My necklace started glowing, it's probably going to be blu- RED?! Already?! After staring a bit it turned blue.

I am under a tree, maybe they climb it? But wait this tree for a fact has barley any branches for a human to climb well not an experienced climber.

This could only mean one thing, one of the Nekos climbed it. Rei...he could be my partner!

I moved a bit closer to the surface and it was turning purple, my partner is definitely up there.

I hear footsteps, and held my knife firmly. They're gone and so is the sign of my partner. Ugh so much for finishing the game quickly.

But none the less, first things first... How do I look? I pulled out the compact. Blue eyes and brown hair...the colors I used to have, huh? Well played DMF you seem to have done all your research on me.

In case you're curious, my family line on my mother's side has a type of metamorphosis. For generations the second daughter would always develop abnormal health.

I was that daughter and I have been sickly since birth, yet you see me healing so fast when ever I get injured. I am a pretty messed up child. Especially on the inside.

Only my eye color was suppose to change, but after getting that blessing and curse everyone's memoirs have changed and I was gifted with this silver snow white hair.

Enough reminiscing I need start finding shelter. This place is too small for my liking. Everyone knows the killing happens on the second day.

Nezumi's POV

I looked at my surroundings, there isn't anything useful around here! I sighed, "Never imagined trees could be so unhel-" My necklace...it's...it's red! I held it out like a compass, "My partner is coming in fast..." I jumped up higher in the tree and was about to find footing when I got tackled down.

What!? No one attacks on the first day! "Aish!" They muttered. 'Aish...?' Who says 'aish' these days? I looked up at the person who tackled me, "Are you okay?" I asked politely, "How could you ask that to someone who could potentially kill you?" They said standing up, "Uh...s-sorry...? You just remind me of someone...so I had to ask..."

The person sighed rolling their black eyes, "You're gonna die." They said lending me a hand, "I was told. You are one hypocritical person." The person pushed me away making fall on my butt. I winced and something caught my eye, "The necklaces...!" I said looking at the intensity of the red.

The person's eyes widened, "...red..." They looked at me, "N-nezu...mi?" My vision started to become blurry but soon focuses and I met the eyes of the one only, "Rei..."
