If I had a yenny penny every time I mentioned my undying love for the coldest season of the year, I'd have enough to purchase a jar of gumballs. And not the licorice-filling shit! Who was the devil that thought to hide such a revolting bitterness in a piece of colorful candy?!
Back then, when I lived in North America, the state I was born in didn't get much rain during the season. Only when we moved further north, closer to Canada, did we get that wonderful time of the year in full swing.
I swore I could still hear that damn Christmas song in the breeze...
All I ever want for Christmas is for it to be Christmas.
Nowadays, they called it Rexmas and butchered the original meaning! Were I a devout christian, I'd bawl heresy and launch a goofy crusade using rubber swords and balloon animals as cavalry!
Feeling silly this morning, aren't we, Johnny boy?
Yeah...
...

...
Sighing, I tabbed out of the search engine, my mind filled to the brim with twists and elaborate camping knots.
A healthy mind needed those. Too little and the brain smooths over permanently. Too many and...
I drummed my left hand, pinkie first, thumb last.
Tap- tap- tap- tap- tap...
It soothed my nerves.
Somewhat.
A short distraction from the convoluted present.
A month ago, I was in a better state. Add another, even better!

My eyes snapped to the window. Till now, they were unfocused on the blinds themselves, a slight crack at the bottom letting in natural light.
Something moved there...
Could it be...?
Breaking into a sweat, I raised the blinds a smidge, expecting... something bad.
However, it was the complete opposite.
Proof that my favorite season had come.
„Ah... nice..." I smiled a tad, observing the outside warmly.
The main part that made me fall in love with the cold season was, well, the cold. It was just how I felt. I didn't like sweating, shivering was a preferred alternative. I also found it easier to cozy up than cool down.
Once I'd moved up the American continent, I discovered another wonderful aspect of winter.
Snow.
And right now, the first flakes were descending from the heavens.
„Ha..."
If I remembered correctly, Yamoto should have plenty of white fluff throughout the season. Despite the shift of the technic plates moderately changing the global geography over God-knows-how-many eons, the island nation in the north–west pacific was as chilly as it's always been.
When did tourism boom more? I wondered.
Humming, I crumpled the curiosity into a crooked ball and chucked it into the recycling bin.
