Chapter 7

The Warrens began their investigation. Ed and Drew made food for the Smurl family while Lilian and Lorraine walked through the house, trying to sense something.

Lilian had a camera with her and was taking pictures. When she saw her mother, she took a picture of her, but it scared Lorraine a bit when the flash went off.

She looked over to Lilian.

"Sorry, the flash was supposed to be off. I just wanted to document it all." apologized Lilian.

Lorraine smiled gently towards her daughter.
"Everything okay?"

"Yeah..." asnwers Lilian but Lorraine looked at her, she knew Lilian was lying. "It's just been a while since we worked on a case ."

Lorraine smiled at her and then a noise sounded from above. Lilian and Lorraine quickly turned their head in that direction. "I'll go and check. You stay here."

"But-" Lilian wanted to protest but Lorraine interrupted her with that certain mother look that even as an adult seemed to work.

Lilian watched her mother goes upstairs when she heard a voice. "Mommy, mommy."

Lilian turned around slowly to see a moving baby doll, crawling towards her.

The baby doll stopped and everything was Quiet until footsteps came rushing towards Lilian and making her jump.

It was Carin Smurl, one of the twins.

"Hey Carin" said Lilian and smiled at her gently.

"Sorry." Apologized Carin and picked up the doll.

"It's okay. What's her name?" Lilian said in a gentle voice.

"This is Susie." Answers Carin.

"Hey, Susie." Said Lilian to the Doll and smiled at Carin.

"Do you like dolls?" Asked Carin her.

Lilian thought of the Annabelle doll that has haunted her little Sister since she was just a kid. "Uhm... not really."

After the conversation, Lilian looked up the stairs and headed toward them. She couldn't let her mother do it alone.

Once upstairs, she ended up in Jack and Janet's room where the noise was coming from.

Lillian looked around the room before approaching the bed, kneeling under to see if anyone or anything was hiding underneath it.

Lilian gasped.

The springs of the bed moving down as if someone was lying on the bed, but no one was there.

Lilian stood up the body began to move under the bed and their fingers hid away and it seems like there was no one on the bed.

She stared at the bed, until she felt something and heard someone walk past the bedroom to which she immediately looked over towards the door. Lilian walked out and went down the stairs.

Downstairs, she met Lorraine, who looked at her sternly. But before she could say anything, the basement door opened by itself.

Lilian and Lorraine looked into each other's eyes before Lorraine took her hand and the two went downstairs together.

Once downstairs, Lilian closed her eyes and suddenly heard voices in her head
"Get away from her!"
"I know what you did! You dirty girl! You filthy girl!"
"Oh, no!"

Lilian opened her eyes and looked at her mother. She had heard the same.

The two women quickly went upstairs and pulled Ed and Drew outside to talk to them.

"The spirits, there are three of them. They never lived in this house, but on this land. This was farmland. There was a woman. She was wild. She just so tormented. She had an affair, and her husband went, insane. He took an axe, and he went after her. She hid in the basement. But, she wasn't alone. She went with her elderly mother. And he killed them both." Tells Lilian them.

"Well, look, we've seen violent manifestations like that before, so why is this different?" Asked Ed.

"The three spirits are facade. Something else is blocking my vision. Just hiding behind them." Answers Lorraine.

"Demonic?" Asked Drew and Looked at his wife.

Lilian nodded to her husband and said "It's controlling the spirits. It's using them against the Smurls."

"But what's it want? I mean, this has being going on for months. What's it waiting for?" Asked Ed.

Lorraine and Lilian couldn't answer.
