CHAPTER 36

"It doesn't matter right? as long as what we feel is real" is the first thing Tin said when we were getting into the car.

The car drove away from my parent's mansion but I still haven't answered him. I stayed quiet for another 10 minutes and he also didn't say anything along the way.

That's not important here right? What I want to know is why? Why does his father want me, ever since I'm a kid he's been eyeing me for his toddler son, for what reason?

Knowing how cunning and full of bad surprise Khun Jack lately is, is it a good thing for us that he chose me? What plan did he actually have?

Another 5 minutes passed and I just realized, we weren't heading back to our home.

"Where are we going?" I ask Tin, speaking for the first time since we left my parent's house.

"Chen's place"

"What?" I look at Tin intently trying to look for just a hint of expression that he wasn't serious. He was dead serious. "What for?"

"To find some answer, You remember Garfield and Lee said my dad and Chen were friends in school, they've known each other for so long, he must know something about this."

"Isn't he even going to tell us? It's Chen we are talking about."

"It's Chen, you biological father, the one who was begging on his knee to get you back. The one who fights his way to become the leader of the biggest criminal organization in the country so he can be equal with your adopted parents. The one who orchestrated this whole severed thumbs drama just so I don't marry you." Tin looked at me after he said all of that "He is the one we need to talk to."

I don't immediately answer him, these whole new truths still feel so unreal for me, I've been hating him for as long as I knew him and it's so hard to suddenly change that feeling in just 1 day. But, beside that, Tin is right, he's the person we need to talk to right now.

"But, will he talk to us? He's so busy trying to save one of his 'children' now."

"That's more of a reason right? His other children come to us for help, pretty sure he won't reject us."

To be honest, what Tin said 100% makes sense. If we can't confront his dad now, my biological dad is our next best choice.

I still don't know if I'm ready to meet him now, after I know the truth about him, but that's not important for now, whatever I feel about him now is definitely less important than finding the whole truth about everything.

I didn't try to stop him but also didn't say my agreement and Tin kept driving to bring us to the organization's building.

When we arrive everything looks normal. I was expecting chaos since only this morning Chen's most trusted right hand man was arrested by the police in this very building, but nothing out of the ordinary seems happening in the building, the guard still guarding and the receptionist still welcoming, they all just let me through as usual. They even let Tin come with me and didn't try to stop him or anything.

Did Chen really expect me to come?

We rode the elevator to the top floor and when the door opened a Beta secretary was already waiting for us.

She didn't say anything and just guided us to Chen's office and opened the door for us. She immediately closed the door after we entered.

Chen was sitting on the sofa when we entered his office. Didn't even bother to greet us. He just smiled at us but his face looked really tired.
