Tin has been trying to meet his father for more than 9 months, but his father always refuses to meet him. Only now, when he was told that his twin grandchildren had been born and Tin wanted him to see their picture, did he finally agree to meet his son.
They meet at a special visit room, not like the visit room where common prisoners meet their families. This room has a sofa, snacks and drinks. There's fancy painting on the walls, even the big window has a satin curtain to make the room look luxurious. It's just the wall is still the same gray color like the rest of the prison, making the luxury room look dull and kinda scary.
Jack's trial ended 5 months ago. It should be a national spectacle that was live streamed all over the country. But it turned out really boring. Jack didn't even bother to hire a lawyer and even provided the police with evidence they needed. That's why the trial ended pretty fast. The sentence was prison for life.
The things that saved him from execution was he surrendered himself, very cooperative during investigation, and in a good behaviour during trial. Also he's considered as an esteemed member of the society and has contributed a lot to the society.
It would be fun if he got the death penalty though. Anything the executioner does won't ever kill him and they probably just give up and let him free.
Tin knows his father stays in prison only because he wants to stay in prison, if he wants to escape he'll do it on his first day, but he didn't because he knows he needs to be in this prison.
Jack came into the visit room almost like he wasn't a prisoner. He was still wearing his prisoner uniform, but he didn't wear any handcuffs. His face and hair are clean and styled just like when he's outside.
A person like him, even when he's a convicted serial killer, people will still respect him. Tin can imagine, he probably has a group of fans and admirers that are always ready to serve him inside the prison, both prisoners and guards.
"Are they born already?" he asked with a lot of enthusiasm the moment he saw his son.
"Yes," said his son, "6 weeks ago."
"Can I see their pictures?"
Tin gave him a print out of the twin's pictures because he wasn't allowed to bring any gadget inside the prison.
Jack accepted the pictures like he was accepting treasures and gold. He holds the pictures with a lot of care and looks at it with a lot of admiration.
"Luke born first, 49cm, 3kg, and Leia born 13 minutes later, 47cm, 2,8kg, they both are healthy and perfect Enigmas. Luke has Vel's hair color and Leia has yours."
Jack smiles looking at his twin grandchildren's picture "Luke and Leia?"
"Vel said he wants these Luke and Leia to always be together, always have their parents' love and always on the lightside."
"Is Vel ok?"
"He's fine, he's a fighter, giving birth to twins on his first pregnancy. 15 hours of labor, It wasn't easy but he survived just fine."
"Glad to hear that."
Tin was waiting, waiting for his father to say anything else. A few seconds passed and he still didn't say anything else, only busy looking at the twins' pictures.
So he decided to be the one who talked.
"You know, dad, even after everything you did to me, I still find myself always trying to defend you, find a good reason why you did what you did."
For the first time Jack lifts his head from the pictures and looks his son in the eyes "Because everything I did is for good reasons."
Tin scoffed "You still thinking that way?"
