Never leave home in anger, or at least if you do, then don't travel too far out of your way for even if you expect to, you cannot be certain that a return home ... in full and complete health ... will be made ...

Elise Eccleston remembers, she more than remembers, she steps right into her memories, right back to a time when she was just three years of age. An only child she is at this point in time, she had no sisters, and she had no brothers but right next door there were two girls the same age, more or less, as she was. They were as close to identical twins as any two sisters could be without being twins, especially as the years moved on, right down to the clothes they wore.

The Green Girls, they were widely known as since Green was their surname, and a friendship would become such that they'd for the most part, be seen as a trio, Elise would oddly be a Green without being a Green as for if the Green Girls were referred to ... then that reference would include Elise. Mothers colluded so that Elise could be in on the clothing front.

Fifteen months separated Jessie with Katie. Elise not quite smack in the middle, being ten months younger than Jessie and five months older than Katie, all giving or taking a day or three. Jessie was the most reserved with Katie being quite the cheeky one ... passing notes to boys when the teenage years came, and in the name of one of the other two, mostly Jessie when neither Jessie nor Elise had given their blessing on such, and for that Elise often played referee so that neither of the other two would do something they may regret at some point or other.

With the progression enfolding into the teenage years, boys did enter the fray and as things would have it, one note in particular saw to it, in the long run of course, that Elise would meet and marry the love of her life. This had not been the intent. It was supposed to be a practical joke, one to embarrass Elise and initially it did, until something unanticipated followed.

Katie, whether or not she knew, held Elise in high regard. The age gap is indeed only the fifteen months though if Elise was to favour either of the other two then shouldn't it be Katie rather than Jessie. It didn't seem this way to Katie, if anything, it was the opposite. When disco attendance started becoming mandatory, such as what teenage life is, Elise would go with Jessie and Katie would be left behind, no matter the small difference in age, especially between the younger two of the three.

Mother had told Katie she'd stay home that first time, her time would come, reluctantly she did. Elise was not an actual sister, so if her parents were fine with her attending discos, then such is just what it is. The second time a disco night came about was more difficult and then the third ... nah ... she is not having this.

Katie had waited patiently and is actually one week older by the point when a fourth night came than Jessie was on that first disco night. A point had come where a first real big school disco night was to happen, and this particular night was just that. Katie couldn't miss this one, still, she was told that the next one would be her first big night.

Jessie and Elise dressed up together. They could have let Katie share in this moment though the excitement was bubbling to such a high that it wasn't even so much as a consideration. As they prepared to head out to the big school disco music was playing to heighten the anticipation further. Their laugher reflected in the oversized mirror they sat in front of, fixing each other's hair and sharing inside jokes only best friends would understand.

Katie watched on, not having to conceal where close proximity, such was the lack of attention going her way. As the older two stepped out the door, the thoughts of the night ahead ... music, dancing, and a chance to feel grown-up filled them with anticipation ... it all felt as if this was a night that would shape the future. And it would be, just not in the way it had been hoped for.
